Has anyone heard of TANGO DOWN TACTICAL AIRSOFT there on east grand blvd in Detroit, it's a 7 story tall 70,000 sqft building. They opened up in may 2012. I was wondering if there real or a scam because I never hear anything about them?

Just heard about it a week ago. They have pretty strict rules but I can understand why.

They are not fully up and running. Some of the hellfish have actually been helping them get things started although we have still yet to convince them of the importance of following MIA standards.
The people that are running things are excited about the sport but they are also somewhat new. When I first talked to them, they were claiming to be the only cqb airsoft field in Michigan. They had no idea there were others like Phoenix or Eastside along with a few others and they did not know about MIA.
The building is huge. The potential is definitely there. There are 9 levels in the building of which 7 will be used for airsoft. I've given them floor plans so they could get an idea of what to do with the spaces. The site is fairly safe since it is just blocks from the DPD. I've played a couple games there late last summer and back then, they still had a ways to go. I'm not sure of how it is now.
Its promising but if they do not follow MIA standards I don't see them lasting. You may or may not see a hellfish game there just to show these guys how a typical MIA game goes.

I had heard talk of an arena that was about nine floors tall in Detroit, but I kind of dismissed it as a rumor being that nine stories of airsoft just seemed like a fanatsy. I guess I stand corrected now.
Looks pretty promising, but it seems like they were just brainstorming on rules and stuck with whatever +50% of them agreed on.
The ridiculous restrictions on BBs, and having a +50 fps advantage for rental guns just seems like an attempt to maximize revenue.
Just my $.02

Do they chrono with .20 or .25?

I'd assume .25, since that's all they allow. Such wasted potential...

Why not just get a lot of us to contact them and request they set their rules to the standards otherwise they won't get our business?

Those rules are whack. The FPS for CQC is 350 with .2s for good reason. What they allow is 400FPS with .25s. Assuming that we lose ~40-50FPS per .05g weight increase, we get a max allowable velocity of 440-450FPS with .2g bbs with no discernible MEDs. For a field game that would be a 50ft MED because even 400FPS at 20 ft can cause bleeding and occasional skin penetration. Unless they adopt the MiA 350FPS for CQC environments then they will never get my business, it's just not safe

I am much more worried about the regulations with bb's. I just simply cannot bring myself to pay for bb's which I would otherwise never voluntarily put in my gun.

I've been in contact with the owner for a while. The building is not open yet anyways. They say they will open sometime next month but they still have a lot that they need to do before that comes true.

This place could be CBQ City Version 2 on steroids if we can just get it to MiA standards.

Great, I think everyone on MIA that lives in south east Michigan should contact them or create a petition to have them change there rules and give them support so they don't close down because I would love to have a CQB CITY type field here.
This place is a dream come true, no scratch that what if ALL OF DETROIT was one giant airsoft field, everyone from around the world would come to play the best milsim events.

CQB in "The D"? I'll get my sights over to my side-rails right away. This place looks awesome, but those CQB limits would definitely need some looking over. If they stood, you better be wearing padded clothing and a hard face mask if not a full paintball mask or something. It sounds like the Hellfish have already done some outreach. Hopefully their efforts can bring them into the fold of the community and then everyone can benefit: they get a larger player base and market and we get an amazing field. Let me know if you guys need help, I might be able to get our guys down there a few times next semester (Jan - Mar) to help if they want it.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that they require players to use their BBs. If we can get that changed, I'd definitely be heading down there to play.
The fact that their rental guns shoot at a higher velocity than replicas we can bring in means nothing in CQB, and 400fps in a CQB environment honestly isn't that bad.

Well the extra 50 fps means nothing as far as a tactical advantage in CQB, but it simply means more energy contained in the BB. Call it what you want but it isn't necessary in CQB and it is just that much more dangerous than keeping FPS lower. Sounds to me like they don't really know what they are doing and probably don't want to open up their rental guns to downgrade the springs, plus the fact that they can likely reel in more money by renting out "more powerful" guns than everyone else gets.
