OPERATION: GHOST DANCE

When: Saturday, March 1st, 2003

Where: "Agent Orange Needed Woods", a 150 acre parcel of land near Ann Arbor, Michigan. We have full permission by the owners.

Who: Hosted by Foxtrot-Lima Airsoft www.flagairsoft.tk

Time: 9AM-9PM

Cost: $15 deposit is due February 15th and will be refunded if you attend.

What: 12 hour *continuous scenario game* based on the Chechen/Russian conflict. Which event have you been to where people have been assigned guard duty? ;-D

How: To register, either post here or at the FLAG boards with the correct information filled out (found in the rules).

Extra: We are expecting somewhere around 15 people from FLAG itself and might need to limit the number of people from MiA, once we figure out the popularity of this.

Also, please read these rules: newman.proboards4.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&n=1&thread=1025041691 before you ever think about coming. We will have a chronograph to measure gun speed and, as you can see, have more strict rules than most groups. If you show up with a "hot" gun, the only thing we can do is turn you away. We do have the right to allow certain "hot" guns but put heavy restrictions on them; please PM or e-mail me beforehand if you have a question about that. Having too fast of a gun and not being allowed to play is not a reason to have your deposit refunded! Read the rules beforehand!

Hmm. It's tempting, but my SR16 (and Snips SR16, soon) shoots over 360. I don't know if I'd want to use my G36C. I'll have to think about this one.

Don't miss out on a great game because you have to use a stock gun. There are bound to be other people there with stock guns, too. This game is going to be way too cool to miss out on for that. Besides, we both know that the g36 has great accuracy (and effective range) for a carbine, so you're not even at that big of a disadvantage to less heavily upgraded guns.

Don't get me wrong, the G36 is great except I've got one whole standard mag for it (Compared to the 4 standards and 2 high caps I have for the SR16).

One part of the rules is kinda confusing: It says:

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, it is encouraged that if you are surrended by someone with an upgraded replica within the minimum engagement limit, that you honor that surrender.

But no where is a minimum engagement limit mentioned or specified. What's up with that?

That's what happens when I had to take two sets of rules and blend them together a couple months ago. Some words were totally fixed and some got mixed up.

Tempting... but by then my SR16 should be upgraded, and should be shooting over 360 fps. Sooo... does this mean I can put it in the sniper role?

I dont know.... those limitations on fps just make this sooo unappealing.

I'd rather have minimum engagement distances like the AO rules than a top FPS ceiling (Though a ceiling makes more sense if you're aiming for realism), but I'm not going to argue. It's your event.

Simply put, I played enough games with MiA/SEMTEX that I felt that people with less than 400 FPS were at a strong disadvantage when having a face to face contact on the field. That, and 500+ FPS sniper weapons shot so far that I felt they were legalized cheating.

Like I said above (in the first event post), if you have a "regular" gun that shoots above 360 FPS you must contact me about it. I'll review it, talk to other team members, and then decide what we'll do about it. That can include minimum distance requirements, but we'd like to avoid those. Why should we let a guy with double the range of everyone else play? Too many times at MiA games have I seen a player and not been in range, but he was. That's just not fun.

That, and I haven't found anybody with an M120 to sit back and shoot at a safe distance other than Bigmack.

Basically guys, this event caters to people who aren't interested in playing with highly upgraded guns. My 340ish FPS M4 is right at the perfect speed and range level compared to other FLAG guns. The event just isn't for people looking to shoot "fish in a barrel" with their 500 FPS APS2's.

So, we might be allowed to play even if the gun shoots 370? 380? Where are you going to draw the line? I figured 360 was you guys saying, 'After this, tough luck'.

My SR16 shoots at about 365, but I wasn't about to argue to allow myself to use it. It'd be against the rules if I did use it.

We have 2 guys shooting around 370-380 (the P90 shoots probably mid to high 380s). We have yet to get the chronograph. It's all picked out, I just need to get something like $5 from a couple people to help cover the cost.

Read the first post, guys, I wasn't kidding when I said that we would review the gun speed. ;D

So basically your saying you don't want to have a challenge?

I'm alittle confused by it all. I played at OP: white thunder with an MP5K that chrono'ed at under 250 fps. I got more kills then most upgraded weapons. Just because someone hase an upgraded weapon doesn't mean you can't get at them. you just have to change your tactics.

Also why do support weapons have chrono at the same speeds as rifles/sub machinguns?

Just kidding, we’ve discussed this before and I fully understand your thoughts on this subject. I'll be looking forward to playing with you at some of the non-FLAG events.
