I just watched on USA a new reality TV show about combat scenarios. It is run by Rudy (the ex-SEAL) from the first survivor. It is totally awesome!
There are SWAT cops, Delta force, marines, CIA special ops, and army rangers all divided up into 4 6-man teams. Each week, two of the teams play a special mission (this week it was to put a fake bomb next to a tank). I have seen what is to come and it looks like they are playing "downed pilot", "weapons dump", and VIP scenarios (all of which have been incorperated to airsoft).
They are using MILES weapon simulators. If you don't know what they are it is a M4A1 shooting blanks with a laser attached to the barrel; instead of bullets, they fire lasers.
A great scene came when a SWAT guy said over the radio that he would give covering fire to the guy running the bomb over to the tank. The SWAT guy's clip was out and when he went to fire, the bomb runner got lit up by two guys with AK's.
Althought this was only the first episode, I really liked it and I think that this show is going places.
It airs on USA wednesdays at 10:00.

Aaaaah crap. NOW I remember why I wanted to stop playing CS at 10pm. Arrgh! I really wanted to see that show. Hopefully they'll repeat it late at night or something.
*me crosses fingers*

I never did like reality shows I thought they were corny. But I think the thing they were missing where guns and tactics… maybe this is the show for me… <ponder>

For only a few seconds could I see some cheasy drama like in Survivor. It happened when Charlie Team (the teams are all named) lost 5 men opposed to Bravo who lost 4. This meant that Charlie must "vote off" one of their members and "recruit" a new guy. Since this was the first episode and these guys knew each other for about 24 hours, they didn't want to vote anyone off. Instead they did it randomly, which sucked because a real cool guy got shafted.
WATCH IT! You will definetly like it!

I dunno I thought it was kinda iffy. I mean the bad guys dont have any sort of way of knowing they die. They arent wearing any type of laser receptor and their AK's dont have lasers on them either. They just fly around when they think they get shot... we'll see if it gets better.

That show was corny, were those SEALs? Why did they suck so bad, there was a complele absents of tactics and basic movements. Also did you see how bad the enemys were they stood up and ran that the good guys. I realy liked the way the shadow squad shot, who needs aiming we have hats. Well I guess it was better the friends at least, I just wish they would show it in real time and not little clips that distorts whats going on.

I thought that simunitions would have worked a lot better. I remeber hearing something that the army is now using them instead of the miles system.
Wait a sec...I remember seeing lasers on the ends of the AK's (they were small however). I also think the "Shadow Squad" had laser receptors on them. What happends is, is that if the bad guys are in too good of a position, they run out of their cover and get shot (to make it easier for the contenders).
What I liked is how they combined physical activities (like the log carry) used by Navy SEALs and the Mil Sim. I also liked how they used a points system so the games were fair. In other shows, like The Mole (ABC), the paintball and lasertag games didn't seem like they were organised well.
I think the show will go well as long as no one makes any "secret alliances" or any dumb shit like that. When Reality TV starts looking less like real life and more like "The Real World" (MTV), thats when I stop watching.

I just watched it for the second time, I guess I was just in a tactical mood before. Because the second time it did seem much better. What are these Simunitions your talking about? I've never heard of them, though I've heard that miles gear is quite lacking.

I've been trying to get my hands on some Simunitions for about 6 months now. I have all of the protection gear, all I need is a 12-gauge shotgun conversion kit. go here (great site): www.simunition.com/They leave a small red or blue dot on your clothes that you can't wipe off. Pretty cool.

I think theyre actually a good idea for police type work. I mean, you use the regular guns and the severe pain keeps you from getting hit. Airsoft stings but its not too bad. I would consider them a good idea for occasional plice/ swat training but i dont think you could play a whole day with them.

The problem with Simmunition is that when you convert some guns (forget which, but I'm sure of this) to shoot Simmuniton you can't change them back to normal ammunition firing guns! Now that would suck if you didn't know that! ;D
