Hey, I was looking forward to it, but the M249 hit my bank account something fierce and I need the money. I'll be working till 4 AM tonight, and as much fun as it could be, driving 100 miles on no sleep to play airsoft and then drive back on no sleep isn't my idea of a good time.

FYI - Operation is still on if you were wondering about the weather. The weather report calls for it to be in the 60's with shattered showers.
Please call me anytime between now and tomorrow morning if you have questions - 616-835-0214

Well I just woke up after getting back to Grand Rapids a couple hours ago. It was a good op, great to see everyone again, and get to meet some new people also. Thanks to ACO for hosting, and the field owner(don't know who that was) for letting us run around like freaks on their land. Other than that had a good time, but damn the thorn bushes.
Luke
P.S. Early in the day around noon, some chick was yelling over by the house in front of the pond. Anyone else hear that? Just wondering, she seemed to be yelling in our general direction, but I was hiding at the time anyhow. Take care guys.

Congratulations to all those hearty souls who stuck in there during the long, grueling, painful stalks through the thorny vines. And, have you looked at your legs yet? Mine look like I have a sudden and severe case of measles with hundreds of tiny little red marks... even on my calves, because I tried walking backward for a while. Ahh... the scars of manhood.
Thanks to Delta Detachment for hosting and to the landowner, John, I believe. The second game in the pines made the day worthwhile.
Almost forgot, I was going to relay a funny little story. During the game in the pine trees I was waiting in ambush, just off one of the main trails. I could hear targets approaching, so I took aim in the general direction of the sound. Soon a tango came into view and I knew by the Real Tree camo that it was John. I waited until I had a clean center of mass hit and let loose with a full-auto volley. John immediately drops to the ground with a small yelp. I followed up with a few quick trigger squeezes to take out the figure behind... Savage. After they were both hit, they decided to move out of the tree cover and into the road, probably to avoid stray rounds. I decide it would be best to move to a better position and to get a look at the tango's I've just brought down. I stand... take a few short steps... wave to the tangos I've just eliminated... and while waving I promptly fall into one of the deepest holes I'd seen that day. It was waist deep and I'm sure I disappeared completely from their view. It was so hilarious the three of us busted out laughing. Good times...

I have nothing else to say @ Frosty
You still da man!
Now, tell everyone where you shot poor John........ ;D
Thanks again Frosty for hauling my backpack and hat out.
SORRY again for overshooting the shit out of you Hado. Sorry to the poor dead bugger who I shot thinking he was still alive after John got hit by someone who was still alive in that same area. Good games, good times.
Thanks to Detachment Delta and the property owners for having us out!
Just in case anyone is going to complain about the lack of action in the first part of the day, I am going to throw out my opposing view right now. Personally, I find the anticipation of contact almost more of a thrill than the actual contact. There was plenty of anticipation in the first part of the day! However, I would have to agree that those thornbushes do suck. Nobody told me to bring a machete......

Holy crap I'm tired. Those wild thorn bushes really wore me out. Made for an interesting day though, even though we never saw anyone for the longest time we could sure hear them crunching thier way through the beastly vines. Savage, no worries. I just thought we were all clear on how we were handling hits so I was surprised to hear....and FEEL you unload what seemed like a whole standard magazine into my body. I was lucky you heard me swearing like a pirate while you were reloading because I'm pretty sure you would have peppered me some more. hehe. ouch. Aah good times. Thanks to everyone that made it out and as always it was great seeing all of you. Though next time we need Snip to come with us so that Frostee and Warmonger don't make fun of me the whole day. Bastards.

Thanks for all your input and my apologies for the thorns guys but it should be a great place for an op in January. It pleases me that everybody had a good time with a good group of guys who enjoy the sport of airsoft no matter what the circumstances.
Jon, the property owner who took you to the pines is a good guy and it looks as if he may join ACO in the near future.
Trust me - the next op in Lowell will not not have so much thick briars and vines - it's all hardwoods baby on 44 acres. I'm going to check it out sometime this week. If anybody has any input in regards to what they would like the next reeenactment to be - please let us know. I hope Garcia Jamison was simplier and ran smoother than Firebrand.
As we are looking towards the winter months, it is my goal to continue the action! I'm looking for locations, and already have some confirmed, where we can hold a CIA operative inside different houses and buildings using handguns only. And as far as these reenactments and any future reeenactments are concerned, I'm going to email you the first letter and explaination of your mission about 3 days to a week before the op as well as any aerials/maps. This way, like in real life, you will be debriefed and have time to determine your actions.
If everybody could send me thier email and phone numbers, I will set up an ACO club list for everybody.
Gabe - thank you very much for taking the lead when I had to leave. You are a trustworthy advocate!
Wish I could of been there for the whole day but it's sounds like everybody really enjoyed it and this is ACO's goal - taking our fun seriously!

oi. I am sore *everywhere*. And I really wish I could manage to play an op with my own goddamned gun. I shredded the gears in my MP5 the night before the op. Geez. But, I had a helluva time. Big thanks to Detachment Delta for holding another excellent op, and very big thanks to Jon for letting us use both pieces of property. Jon was really cool, and I'm glad he got to play with us the second game. The briars were a pain, but sure kept things interesting. It was really wierd (not sure if that's the right word, but I just woke up ) playing with the teams skewed so much...but I think it worked really well within the bounds of the scenario. It seemed like every time we turned around, we were getting ambushed. It was very much in the vein of guerrilla warfare. It seemed like we were always constantly lost, simply because every time you tried to work your way through a patch of briars, you ended up losing any sense of direction you might have had (at least I did ). The second game was really fun. The pines, pits, and general other stuff made for an excellent game, even if we ran it without any objectives other than "shoot the bad guys". It was most fun getting to spring an ambush on Hado and Warmonger...then later, charging towards a tree, not knowing that it hid 3 (!!) members of the other team. Eeep. Ryan, I have a scenario written up...I'll prolly send it to you after I polish it up a bit (same e-mail address as used for paypal, correct?). It was written with the field used for firebrand in mind, but could probably be modified to work just about anywhere. Also, one thing that keeps sticking in my head...I'm not sure about the "timed" objectives...ie...after 1 hour, move onto objective 2, etc. Personally, I'd like to see a more "progressive" way of working the objectives...like, don't start objective 2 until the first is finished. Of course, that requires the objectives to be written in such a manner that if the two teams are in contention for an objective (i.e. the drugs at Garcia Jamison), then that objective also details what you should do if the other team has captured it before you're able to. I guess it's tough to explain, but I hope y'all get the gist of what I'm *trying* to say Anyhow...Thanks again to Ryan and Gabe for organizing, and a huge thanks to Jon for letting us use his property, and suggesting the second place. I definitely look forward to seeing everyone again soon.

Xaos,
Great input! Yes, I do understand what you talking about regarding the timed ops. Go ahead and email me your op when you have it polished. Maybe it would work better to have single objective missions that easily flow into another single objective mission (many ideas stirring in my head already).
FYI - I've been working on some of my own smoke grenades (casing is a dummy grenande) using postasium nitrate (aka Salt Petre) and sugar but it seems to burn too hot and too danerous. Does anybody have a formula for a less hazardous mixture that we can use?
I will let Jon know how much everybody appreciated his land use.
Also, please let me know available dates for everybody in Oct. and I will try to compromise everybodies needs!

I had a great time yesterday... Even w/out contact most of the day, was still some pretty good stuff =)
And the pines.... that game was quite interesting. Xaos's tree charge was *so* classic. Savage (i think) hollerin at us to move so he can cap the baddies, Xaos runs toward tree, 3 guys open up at ~5 feet. Commence duck and cover for the rest of us ;p Then, Xaos gets peppered by teammates trying to hit the guys behind him.... I was lmao ;p
And I, like xaos, have a scenario written up.... It'll probably be more of a 2-day thing, so I think I'ma keep it for the one we're planning... But we'll see =)
As for October dates, I'd be free for any weekend, as long as we know in advance.
