Hey Guys. I want to order and hard plastic quick draw holster (drope leg) for my Sig P229. Everywhere I look I can find holsters for the Sig p226 but I fear buying it and it being too loose or too snug.
Can anyone tell me if it will fit just fine? Any experience with this? I hate having to buy the universal holsters as they are bulky and usually require a snap so its not a fast draw.

I use a genuine BHI SERPA for my KJW P229. The 229's frame is a bit wider than the 226's (as I understand it, it was designed to accommodate a larger round), so it's a tight fit. What I did was, I put the gun in the holster and blasted it with a hair dryer on its hottest setting for a while. It warmed the kydex up enough to widen out around the frame. It's still a little snug, but the gun definitely fits. Drawing it is just fine, it doesn't feel any different from drawing my KSC M9 from its SERPA (it fits correctly, duh). When I reholster, the slide hangs up a bit, and would rest maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch back. So I've taken to pushing the slide down with my thumb when I reholster the sig.
If you heated it up multiple times or had access to a proper heat gun and not just a hair dryer, you could probably get it a fair bit wider than I got mine.

Fear,
Alex stated pretty clearly that doesn't want a nylon holster with that style of thumb break. He's looking for something plastic that will allow for a faster draw than a traditional thumb break holster does. When you're trying to help out, please be sure to actually read what the OP is asking for. Linking to exactly what he doesn't want is the least helpful thing you can do.
Two more points--that holster is garbage, and P229s use magazines, not clips, like almost all modern guns that aren't revolvers.

He said hard plastic plus Crossman isn't known to have made the best products.

Thanks guys. I do already have one thumbs flip holsters but yes, the goals is to have a quick draw.
I'll have to check out the sepra as I have a good heat gun. So it sounds like that will be the key.
I appreciate the help.

Yeah, I do think the sepra is probably best. The key is that I want to make sure it's on a drop leg. With the adaptors on the back it would seam all I need it a molle drop leg panel. I'm going to start shipping around to find a good price as I'll need to get the panel now also.
Thanks guys.

I'm still not a big fan of the SERPA. Too many stories of them locking up and never releasing your pistol again... Also, many of the Safariland products are suede-lined. The breaks are right on the thumb, not the trigger finger, so the draw is lightening fast. Like this one: safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6305or safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6354or safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6355or safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6384Safariland also has the QLS system which allows you to remove your holster from one unit and move it to another in a matter of about 1-2 seconds. For example, you can unclip it from your drop leg and attach it to you MOLLE adapter on your rig if you're getting tired of using the drop leg on a hot summers day. I utilize the QLS system with my real deal gear by allowing myself to detach the holster from my belt and store it in my car for transport.

Whats the point of buying a replica SERPA when the real ones are so cheap?

Thumb breaks are slow as hell compared to the trigger finger button. The trigger finger button is a natural movement whereas the thumb break needs to be practiced with to make it become natural. It might just be my big hands, but the thumb break sits way too high to be comfortable, kind of hard to describe.
