He wanted the drop-leg kit holmes. Yeah but... its cheap chinese crap! I posted a ton of great Safariland drop leg holsters that use their ALS system. Its a snap in like the SERPA but the release is right where your thumb lands when you grab the handgun, instead of using your trigger finger. Its so much smoother IMO.

Aye, but he settled on the serpa design!
I own both a serpa and a safariland for my SIG, and I honestly have to say I like my serpa much more.

Dahm, hmm well those certainly look nice an I like that they have an exact model for my pistol. So I wouldn't have to modify it. Also the fact that's it comes with the drop leg system as an option helps me not have to buy a leg platform. I wonder, I saw the color options but can actually see the color. I would definitely want a tan of some sort as the rest of my gear is MC for now. However I do want to be able to use it with other camo so I have been buying a lot of tan. Is there a local store that would carry them? I'd almost like to try it on to seethe fit as test the release.

Alex Well, as for color, Safariland makes a lot of military products so you can pretty much expect the tan to be spot on with the rest of the kydex stuff you've seen. If you've ever seen the older SLS style Safariland 6004 systems, its the same. The 6004 is what everyone used to use about 2 year ago. Safariland is a huge sponsor of law enforcement and sell their duty gear (like ALS system drop legs) at most law enforcement sales outlets. If you can find one in your area then I'm sure they would have what you need. They may not have exactly what you're looking for in the exactly model though. In my experience, you usually have to order the holster and wait 2-3 weeks before it can ship because Safariland does specific runs of specific models and it takes time for them to get in stock. Alternatively, you can special order from a local store which might be easier. Nevertheless, if/when you're ready to buy, give OpticsPlanet a call and see if its in stock. Another good place is CopsPlus. I like both for Safariland gear.

I've got a Safariland 6004 for my WE MEU and a BHI SERPA for my TM MEU (and one for my KSC M9 and one for my KJW P229, and another for my other KSC M9). I like the SERPA a lot more. The draw is much quicker and it's more comfortable on my thigh. The thumb break on the Safariland isn't bad, and I've used holster with much worse designs. But there's nothing as fast as that push button on the SERPA. When you reach for you pistol and run your finger along what would be the frame, it falls right on the release button. Pushing it in is natural, so the draw doesn't take much longer than just reaching down and pulling back up.
I've heard of the mechanism on the SERPA jamming up, but have yet to experience it myself. I don't play in the desert, so I don't get a lot of sand in my gear. I have played in rain, snow, mud, you know, the general crap we get at Michigan fields and none of it has given me a problem. I would say that unless you play on sand dunes or spend a lot of time crawling, you shouldn't have to worry about the mechanism locking up.

Timm, why would you say you like the sepra more? Because This is fast as shit, compared to thisSee how the pig fumbles with the thumb break?

Hey guys, welcome to 2010 Safariland uses an ALS system now, not the SLS system. The SLS system was a thumb break, but the newer ALS system utilizes a button much like the SERPA, but in a MUCH better place. Its right where your thumb lands when you draw your sidearm. Your argument is invalid.

In the end, it comes down to this, Alex. Do you really want to buy a holster that Dahm recommends? We're on his team and we don't even listen to him. Get the SERPA, if for no other reason than because Dahm doesn't like it.
