Despite needing to leave at lunch I had a good time, though I was generally hanging back since my girlfriend was with me so I didn't experience any hit calling probs (or if I did I attributed it to poor PTW accuracy and never thought twice) and the only annoying overkill was a BB to the mouth while I was chatting with Tex after getting shot early in the day. I did get overkilled a lot right at the beginning of the morning but nothing out of the ordinary when there're valid targets all around me.
My girl had a good time too and was apparantly even disappointed that I didn't make her rush up into the fray. Also, while she won't admit it, I'm pretty sure she was jealous when Tex and I were flirting with each other.

LOST WALLET!
Believed to be on the north ridge above village A. Brown leather wallet containing my EMT License, drivers license and 45 dollars. name is Jeff Holste
REWARD!!!!! If anyone finds it PLEASE call me at (313)-850-7404. Keep the $45 in it and I'll give you another $100 for the safe return of my Licenses!!!
First off a BIG thank you to Canto and the other gentleman whose name escapes me who helped me out by giving me gas money to get home after the loss of my wallet!
As far as game play went, I enjoyed the medic card system, but saw at least one medic on the green team constantly replacing the "instant heal" card on the top of the deck and offering the same card again and again. I was ashamed of my team...(green). I don't mean to say that all of the members of the green team were being ass holes, but enough were that it ruined the day for me, and many others. At several points I even had to take to shooting team mates myself point blank when I saw them not calling hits. I whole heartedly agree with the idea of limiting games to 18+
Practically none of my team mates(the noobs I was trying to coral) were willing to push on or charge the enemy, leading to MANY incidents of me running all by my lonesome into the tans field of fire with very predictable results.
To Canto and the crew running the event, I'm sorry that so many twats had to show up and detract from an event you put so much hard work into. We all appreciate your efforts, and you were all doing your absolute best to try and keep things running smoothly. Your hard work and dedication showed, and I thank you for it.
Highlight of the day: getting to yell "BOOM goes the dynamite!" to kill some 10-15 tan players inside village A with a planted bomb.
Low of the day: getting my ass HANDED TO ME by a fallen tree branch I tripped over resulting in a lost wallet, full pack of cigarettes, and my pride. (To the tan who shot me while I was falling, I REALLY didn't feel the hit over the pain of getting the wind knocked out of me. I know I talked to you about it on the field, but I want to make sure you didn't leave with any hard feelings over it)

I was at Flash Fire III and there wasn't as many problems with hit calling as there were for this event. I wouldn't dismiss the bangor field or the Flash Fire series because of one bad game. I strongly believe that the +18 with vouching system should be used. With this system, any problems that occur could easily be dealt with.

We really appreciate the attitude of the players here in regards to the rampant cheating that occurred. The unfortunate side of that equation is that if we do an age requirement that is stricter than our current one of 14+ that some people will lose. It's been the firm belief of both Armory Airsoft and Team FLAK since the founding of both that age does not equal maturity. We've had so many positive experiences with younger players, that this event had soured it for us... I'm thinking 16+ for most types of events. If you're under 16 and you either know us (contact us) or you need to have a well establish player vouch for you. I guess that's the way it has to be. Which is really sad. Because some people decided to break the rules and ruined it for all the other younger players. VikingMedic - The name is John by the way. I'm also not sure why all these 'cheaters' came out of the woodwork at this event. I mean, one will always encounter a little bit of it. (Cerberus, a single incident; for example) But it seemed way over the top. But other than the constant cheating. Did people at least have a decent time?

I really like the idea of the 16+ idea an 18+ would be nice as well even though I am 16 but I would think I could get vouched by someone. I apologies to everyone for myself not having a kill rag but the idea of kill rag or no play would be very good or at least have a sling. I just used the sling to throw the gun on my back put my hands on my head and never got shot. The second half I really appreciate Canto's effort to have a few in game moderators they really helped during the last bit.

I had fun. It was my first event and I would be glad to come back again next season. The only issue I had was my fault (cheap goggles that fogged up often) but i can overlook that.

Thank you to Canto, Glass Architect, and the rest of the hosts and mods. Master Oki, thanks for the gloves as my first death was a shot to the hand from about 10 ft. You ran a great game. It was a lot of fun. I disagree with all of the players who say lack of hit calling made this Flash Fire suck. In my opinion, it was all the so-called "mature players" running their smack on the young players that was a smear on this game. If you are so "mature and experienced" then why don't you realize that this is a just a game. Yes, you will have instances where people don't call a hit, this may be intentional or it may be unintentional. The point is, you are failing to realize that it is not your role to judge. Are you a moderator? If the answer is no then shut up and take it on the chin. Let the mods do their jobs. If you are not having fun then go home or take up golf. I had only a few problems with people calling their hits personally, and I think the young players on the green side played a decent game considering their lack of experience. (Shoutouts to all the green players from Kalamazoo Area Airsoft, see you next time... Lets keep in mind that these 14 year old players are the future of the sport. Do none of you remember being a teenager? It is important to show grace and mercy. As the scripture says: "Do not despise your youth..." Young people make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. It's time that the older players of this sport use their positions of experience to lead by example. Keep calling your hits, keep being honest, have faith that they will follow your lead. Lastly, this is a public statement to Big Tex. I don't want to hear you flaming other players when you were encouraging our group to leave respawn early. In case you don't know, this too is considered cheating. As it has been said, "Honor is like a large pane of glass, you can shoot it with a bb or drive a truck through it. Either way, it's still broken." Thanks again Armory Airsoft. You guys rock.

But other than the constant cheating. Did people at least have a decent time? Absolutely ;D Your field is the only one in MI that I can truly utilize the range of my rifle. I had a great time picking people off and watching them attempt to return fire and watching their BB's fall 50-80ft in front of me or watch them spread out around me through my scope. Don't get me wrong, I love Bangor, yes I (note I) would come to many future AA events. But as noted some of my teammates feel differently. I see a lot of comparison's to OP Cerberus I think Tex set the bar a little too high j/k. I was at Cerberus, and it was the BEST game I've ever been to.

I agree and disagree with your statement Mantaray.
The problem is that the cheating occurred when we were not there. When we arrived and stuck around there was none. The moment that we walked away, it came up again. I've got dozens of reports from trusted Team FLAK, Armory staff and other trusted players on cheating at this event. It's still completely over the top.
The thing is as well, if you are a decent player and still under 16 years old. It won't effect you coming to the next event either. Because you're established.

nOOb here and this was my first event. I am older though (37) and would like to put a plea out to those stating that they will not be back to please reconsider. I can understand the frustration ( I was D.P.R.K.) but I also know several of my targets on the "experienced" NATO side did not take their hits as well. I really want to suggest a timeout area with a babysitter and more mods to "enforce" good behavior as I sometimes have to with my 5 year old. (JK, sort of) However, besides being a sport, one thing that attracted me to airsoft was the goals of teaching honesty and teamwork and promoting outdoor activities.
I for one am going to do my best to support Team FLAK (no I am not a member) and encourage them to keep at least several 14+ events. These are the future of airsoft and we need to encourage them and teach them (even if it requires calling hits against our own side if you know they have been hit). I would like to open it up (maybe a separate thread) for ways to help with hit calling.
I got started 5 months ago and have a good sized collection of weapons and gear that I loan out to my Fiance's son's friends (can't afford their own) and have only played with them 8-10 times. I am sharing that only that I am following my belief that this is something to support, not to simply criticize and only play with elite players/teams (myself not included!!!)
My last comment is that I would like to see more instruction up front. This is especially helpful for n00bs but also for experienced players where there are variations on rules (ie. medics). It seems that there could be a standard template of highlighted rules (ie those items shared at the briefing) that could be posted before hand as well as handed out with the maps on game day (we had time to read them and could ask questions) I still think it important for the organizers to go over them beforehand, but would have like to see more info up front. (FLAK, I have more "improvement" suggestions but think you guys did a stellar job and only during the event did I realize the amount of time and thought that went into this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'll start with the good and go to the bad. I for one had a great time, we always love taking a trip to see old faces and get to BS once more. Through the start of the day, it went great. We were kind of rushed at the beginning and didn't really have a clue on the objectives. Once communication started, things kind of got into order, but things went down hill after lunch. When we first started briefing and I saw how many new people were at the event, not to mention there were over 130 there, I knew there was going to be some problems.
The thing is when it comes to airsoft, yes it is a sport. But when people start breaking and not following the rule of said sport, It is ruined for everyone. It is too easy to cheat in airsoft, and when people do, it not only lowers the view of airsoft, but it become so frustrating and annoying, some people actually want to quit completely. I for one think airsoft isn't for the young. Airsoft is a sport not taken lightly for some as it shouldn't. It's kind of like lowering the drinking age for people so everyone can enjoy it, You know there will be problems. I know the younger crowd is our future airsofters, but I think 14 is still to young for this kind of sport.
People spend thousands of dollars into this sport and when young and inexperienced kids break and disregard the rules, That money spent feels like a waste. Maybe airsoft just isn't for the young, plane and simple.
Back to a better subject, Thank you everyone who tried to make this an enjoyable and safe day. Shit happens, but when it happens ALL day, it's not going to be just pushed aside, something should happen. If this kind of behavior happened every event, I wouldn't be in this sport.

Wow. I have to say that I thought last years' FF was a little rough, but this... I think I'm throwing in the towel.
This is the first airsoft game that in five years of playing that I walked off in disgust.
When the game was going, it was going well. When it wasn't, wow, it wasn't. Don't get me wrong, for pure nubkill, it was a buffet. My kill to death ratio was insane. And I called all thew little wispy, float on the air currents and drop on my boot hits (there were two, actually).
What killed the game was that "mods" were walking around in the line of fire, and refused to move. There was about a dozen times I lost a shot because some guy in green was talking to his buddy, and getting in my way... When I asked him to move, he responded that he was a mod, and if he wanted to stand there rambling on about dumpcockdoodyballs or whatever he was saying, he could. Next time, you get shot.
And we had three green kids (and I mean KIDS) standing in our side of the city, yapping on about how they hated ignorant people, and how sweet they were at GRAW, and a bunch of horseshit. If I wouldn't go to jail for roughing up a kid, I would have dropped all three of those little shitmuffins in the river. "Oh, but we're mods!!" Great, go mod somewhere else, or shut your fucking mouths so we can play our game. And stop blocking my line of fire.
It was hard to tell who was AA staff and who got press-ganged into modding. Anyone not on the AA staff pretty much did a shitty job anyways, Canto, I'd stick to your guys, having abunch of 16-year old doorstops try to ref when they barely comprehend the game is just a recipe for disaster.
The hit-calling.
I built my Kitty Kat for one reason, besides being coveted by everyone else. To pound rounds at a really high ROF. Not the best range, but she's loud and mean, and when you get drilled by a dozen rounds, you know it.
I had to question if it was even shooting sometimes. Then I would shoot a tree with it, and peel off acres of bark.
Congrats to the guys charging from the airfield, you guys made me walk from my first game. I went through 7 mags on about as many guys at a decent range firing downhill, watching people get drilled in the face, drop, and when their teammate asked if they were hit, they rubbed their welts, which looked like a full-face case of herpes, and said "nope. I'm fine, dude."
I guess that's the new tactic. Cheat till all the veteran players leave, then steamroll the rest.
I had such high hopes for this game, I'm not gonna lie. FFI was one of the first big games I went to, and I loved it. This one, not so much.
And if anyone thinks I'm coming off too high and mighty, I know FFIV had... what, about 130 people, give or take? I know a lot of refs left after the first game, but you had AA, and still some volunteers...
I ran Warlord II with over 100 people with only a minor delay for losing someone, with NONE of this nubbish rubbish, and I WAS THE ONLY REF.
Canto/AA, not trying to slam you guys too hard here, you can't be everywhere at once. But man, this game was hard for me to swallow.
