The field is well developed although a bit small. The city is well built. The event was the most disorganized I have ever seen in more than 16 years of paintball, military and airsoft experience... The final straw was when my friend asked if he could have some water which he was told was available from a garden hose and the man who owns the place actually wanted him to pay a dollar for water from a garden hose......on top of the $20 admission fee. The initial spawn set up was a joke, and resulted in a massacre. The new spawn point next to the barbed wire made us march into a fatal funnel. Starting tan out in reinforced positions and ordering us to assault was silly. The tan players had superior terrain and more time to dig in than we had to even get into position. The guy running the event took almost 20 minutes to rant and rave about someone shooting towards the house, but would not spend 5 minutes fixing the game balance or setting up a decent scenario. I finished at the lunch break with 8 kills, 4 deaths and I wish I had stayed home and saved gas and money. I am never going back. After spending the better part of an hour driving all the way out to the field, to have some asian guy singing "hoooahhh" and chanting "you're a ranger, you can kill anyone! you can do it guys!".... I could have better spent the day watching sesame street with my nephew. I paid for myself, my friend and my brother, I really would like my money back but I won't waste time asking since it was quite apparent that these guys are all about making the money since they obsessed about who paid making the game start late, but wouldn't spend 5 minutes setting up scenarios. The field is very nice, but the event coordinator/hosts epic failed at capturing our interest, we left at the lunch break only because we couldn't get our car out earlier.

I was there today up until 11:30-ish, but wasn't planning on playing and I noticed that even running late as usual, they were running really late today. It's too bad you didn't have a good time out there because Corey's field is one of the nicest I've played on in michigan.
Maybe I over look the delays because they're my friends and I've known them for years or maybe because I live like 15 minutes out and it's not a huge waste of a trip for me... So, I can see the disapointment on your end, having gone 2-3 hours out for a less then acceptable game several times, myself.
But, rest assured, they have had some really great games out there in the past! Being light on the fields available in Michigan, maybe you should give them another shot once the season has warmed up a bit and they get back into the swing of hosting. They're usually reasonable people. If not, it's completely up to you and it'd be justified.
I know I was sort of disapointed that I'm still on call this week and couldn't play myself, but I had deals to work out so I came and bullshitted for a couple hours anyway.

This was a pretty good game, very dificult given that I was on the green side, but gave it a challenge at the same time.

Redknight, stop trolling. That post is just FILLED to the brim with negativity and no-one wants to hear it. Ghast, I don't remember seeing you there. If Redknight didn't have a good time there, he's within his right to say so. Nothing in his post was out of reason. There were some issues with the game today, I will agree. Not every event is perfect, that's for sure. Some times you get ones that rock balls, and sometimes you get ones that don't. Luck of the draw my friends.

Crazy, honestly other things disappointed me as well. Things such as the two COG guys that got pissy because one tried to back shoot me and his gun malfuntioned so he tried to call a bang kill with a broken gun and I shot him and his friend. (you have to call a bang kill instead of attempting to shoot, and when i challenged him to shoot he was unable to so he got smoked) ROR cleared up the matter and explained which team they were from.
I can appreciate the fact that SFOD apparently wanted some target practice, but they should have used beer and pop cans instead of having paying players rush their little tree forts in a futile effort while they hung back lounging in their fortified positions.... home turf....come on...be gracious hosts and give the visitors half a chance... but also, the ref/host could have chosen better spawns and objectives than putting green team next to barbed wire fences after giving tan time to entrench and fortifiy all the while singing "hooah, you're rangers!" It honestly would not have been so bad if the guy had half a clue about military simulation and training ops, or if he listened to advice from all the people who were giving it during the day trying to salvage the event. I think the most fun I had was counting how many times the silly host said "hooooah".... I lost count around 46 or 47 times.
Mainly I am irked because this was my brother's first and possibly last field game. He was disappointed with the lack of organization and the lack luster performance by the host in areas of creativity and competent planning. The guy spent 20 minutes changing spawn points because a BB hit the owner, but couldn't un-screw the scenario which was miserably unbalanced because he apparently wasn't interested since he already had the money in his pocket.
A simple statistic to reference for anyone both literate and interested: According to Colonel Anatoll U.S. Army (cavalry), retired, you need atleast a 3:1 ratio for any reasonable hope of overwhelming a prepared, hardened position.
Honestly though, the final nail in the casket was when the owner actually wanted a dollar for water from his garden hose.... my friend was thirsty...since they didn't have adequate restroom facilities available they could atleast have supplied drinking water. I wonder what would have happened if Ken had passed out from heat stroke or dehydration because he didn't have a dollar to pay for water...
For sake of positive discussion, I did enjoy seeing everyone and meeting some folks in person for the first time, G-biscuit for instance, it was good to finally meet you in person.
As I said, the facility was very nice for the fact that it is well developed and has some nice structures, but it was lacking in a few important considerations such as restrooms, running water and accessibility. The game host was the primary issue in my mind, but it was enough to deter me from bothering to return.

All valid points, no rebuttal on my end.
The dollar for a drink is what's surprising to me, honestly. Knowing Mr. Moore, I'm really surprised because he's a such a nice guy. But, if it happened, it happened. And, yeah, Gene LOVES Hooah... it's been heard like 5747343534 times on my end and anyone else who's been playing there for the past few years.
Thor's right though, some games are bad ass and some just flop. The games that are mostly 18+ and are held to the schedule as closely as possible are my favorites. They tend to have less cheating and run with more responsible players that play with aggression and tactical plans.
Anyway, I'm hoping the next game, wherever it may be, ends up on a date that I can actually play.

It's almost always dis-organized before lunch. If you had waited until after lunch the numbers become much lower and the games are a lot more fun.
It did seem like a normal rec game today though. I don't understand why it was 20 instead of the nomal price.

Had a great time today. Very few problems with blind-fire and not calling hits. Only disappointments of the day was my SAW's box mag fucking up all day and the bang kill that I tried to call on some douche who instead told me there was no way I'd hit him from 10 feet away and then took a head shot, but whatever. I agree that the organization was sub-par at best, and the spawns were pretty messed as well.

I'm making my report on ASR. "Dodges knifes thrown" I'll post a link when I'm done. (I'm hoping those who took pics have them up soon, my friends there want to see Guts), I can say one thing though. "300" games rock. I love my defensive spot, and my first bang kill. I'm gonna need more bullpups and pistols though, regular guns don't cut it for me. Too hot though. I'm also hoping I don't have poison ivy. Got a lot of hits on my left hand, hurts to type I have nothing else to say. Nice pride welt on my right arm too. I had fear at the first half of this becoming another Flash Fire 3, but the second half revitalized my faith in SFOD. Thanks to them, I had a great game, got my moment of spotlight, made some great deals, and made more comrades. Just a shame my revolver couldn't work, should just sell it. I somewhat agree with redknight. The spawn points for woodland were horrible, and did make the game completely unbalanced, but it really wasn't as bad as he made it seem. Even though tan crushed woodland it wasn't so horrible that I would have wanted to leave. But, anyways, the games after lunch were great. I only had two issues with hit calling and none with blind firing the whole day. One of the issues with hit calling was when someone was reloading a midcap with a speedloader in the field and screamed, "Don't shoot me! I'm reloading!" after I shot him. I'm not sure if he was joking or not but I thought it was pretty funny. The games after lunch were good, even though I was only there for the first two or three because I had to leave at around five. The event did kind of feel like a rec game though. Redknight, they did have bottled water available for sale for 50 cents later in the day. Also, thank you to whomever it was who was able to loan a G36c and mags to my friend. I am also proud of myself today; we finally didn't miss the turn (it only took us 5 events to finally be able to find the turn on the first try). ;D Overall, the game was pretty fun (especially for my friend who played airsoft for the first time today), but it definitely was not as good (organization wise mainly) as the other four or five previous SFOD games that I have been to. Also, I demand pictures and videos now!!! ;D

Apparently things were different for the tan team... I thought things went pretty well. I admit that the green spawn point wasn't very good in the beginning, but the tan's was fine.
I'm not sure how people were saying it was disorganized.... I thought it was pretty well organized. Again, the spawn points were an issue in the beginning, but gameplay was kept running pretty smooth. Maybe the objectives in the morning were a little biased as the tan team's objectives were all basically just to defend the city, d-day, and the "supply bunker". It basically seemed to turn into a big clusterfuck at the edge of the city, but oh well. After lunch the 300 games were pretty good, I always like those.
Redknight, I feel insulted that you called me and TAM "pissy". Maybe I missed something, but I don't even remember seeing you there at all, so I don't know what you have against me. As for TAM and the bang kill, I don't think the bang kill rules were ever very well explained. If his gun wasn't working and he called a bang kill, well how do you know his gun wasn't working? I know he always carries a pistol along with his rifle with him, and I don't think both of his guns weren't working (the L85 and his pistol were working just fine from what I remember...), so he could've just pulled out his other gun and lit you up. So I would say he did you a favor with the bang kill. Although, I don't remember seeing this happen, so I can't comment for sure, but from what I understand I don't see the problem.
About the whole shooting at the house and Mr. Moore, what was the problem you people had with that? At first I was a little disappointed with taking like 20 minutes out of the gameplay to stop, but if you think about it, would you want random people shooting at your house? Put yourself in his position- you've got a bunch of people you don't know over on your property playing airsoft in the back, away from the house. Now people are shooting at you (a "civilian") and your house (out of play), what do you do? Wouldn't you be pretty pissed? I know I would be. So I really don't see the problem with what SFOD did to fix that.
Overall, I was pretty pleased. The D-Day game towards the end of the day was pretty lame because the green team wasn't moving very much towards D-day (even though they had unlimited respawns...) and because my battery died, but I thought the rest of the game was fun. Maybe not worth $20 for an Op because the first half was like an Op, but after lunch it was all just rec games, so I think a $15 price tag would've been more appropriate, but oh well. Its only $5, get over it.
EDIT: Oh yeah, pictures! NAOW!

Definately a good time as always with SFOD. Thanks for putting this on. So the bad: Only had one issue with blind firing, thanks Greyfox for sorting that one out. Little late getting started. And I'm sorry, no offense, but please don't use military shouts as a catch phrase. Most of us are not military, we have not earned the rights to utter those words. Spawns were in a bad starting spot, we pushed right into green at the start of the day on accident (good call Chase getting us out of there kudos). Never saw the replacement, but Tan's was in a better spot the second round. The teams were unbalanced, not in player count, but experience and firepower. Don't take this the wrong way green, but the amount of snipers did hurt your push/defend abilities). The good: As always, always great to hang with the asshats (Thor baby! ), SFOD, Hellfish, COG (GD my not-so-supportive support gunner ), and plenty of other old and new faces (Chaseman you and Monk were awsome, monk you crazy son of a gun). I gotta say as much of a surprise the first opening game was I gotta say it was different and a good way to start. I do have to commend the field owner and operators, it's your property. I would have prefered to have seen it a little better thought out, but, been there, run the games, worked it out. Always got room for improvement, but hey good day well spent.
