Sort of didn't want to butt in on this thread, but after 7 pages of reading, I had to throw my 2 cents in.
Lancer, the more you post in this thread, the further you are digging yourself in.
If you don't care about 18+ events, why are you ranting and raving about all Milsim events being 18+, when only ONE this year is going to be done that excludes those under 18? You seem to sway in-between argument points.
I feel your pain, I was 16 once, around the time ACO set up their CQB Warehouse. It was the best event I have ever attended, to this day, and those of us who attended, that were under 18, were lucky enough that ACO/GK allowed a 14+ event. Did they have to? In short, no they didn't. But they only put on 2 events that were 14+, if I remember correctly, the rest were 18+. My team and I, as well as a lot of other people under 18, jumped at the chance to prove we were mature enough to handle it. I believe we showed ACO we were responsible enough to be invited.
We did not rave, rant, or whine. We merely asked maturely, and politely to be given the chance to play. This, of course, was not a pure Milsim event. I am not quite sure if the 18+ events were, but the one I attended was a hybrid sort.
In the end though, other then ACO's CQB, I was not allowed to attend any Milsim events, because they were ALL 18+. Was I disheartened? Yes. Did I eagerly wait until I turned 18? Yes. I did not rant and rave to try and allow the event hosters to change the age limit to 16+. I simply waited my turn, when I turned 18, to attend such events.
The last sentence it was sounds like whining to me;
"Way to go bar kids from what real Airsoft is like people. Way to go."
It's as if the event hosters, as well as everyone else is barring those under 18 from what Airsoft is "truely like". This is simply not the case. The reason people play Milsim type Airsoft play, is because they actually want to replicate war as close as they can. To do this, they want an actual and believable teams that can replicate a battle. Simply put, those under 18 in some cases fail to do this. Whether it be not the right gear, not tall enough, and other small reasons. Could these things be overlooked? Yes, but the overall experience suffers.
I have attended a lot of events, only 3 Milsim events since I have turned 18 (now almost 19). I had to wait in order to go to these events, why can't you? In the end, it is up to the event hoster(s) to decide if they want to lower the age limit. I really don't see why they should, I was not allowed to attend 18+ events a few years ago, I did not die inside as a person in any way. I simply waited until I was allowed to, to attend these events. Patience is a virtue.
I see where DevilDog is coming from (by the way, welcome back, been a long time since I have seen you posting on the boards). I also see where Munin, Tex, Knief, Pyschosis, and others are coming from. Still, in the end, if the host decides he/she wants a strict 18+ event, there is not much you can do anyhow. It's more about the 18+ atmosphere, then maturity at that point.

I don't care about the 18+ events. It's just when the game that I wanted when I joined airsoft instead of paintball is not there. This isn't about 18+ ops and rec games, it's about 18+ only MILSIM. Sure, the 18 and under can play the paintsoft rounds, but when it comes to MILSIM, that is made 18+ only. If I wanted to fire off as many rounds as possible, I would be playing paintball. I came to airsoft to have a military simulation experience, which seems that everyone is against. Way to go bar kids from what real airsoft is like people. Way to go.
