I've never understood why people exclude machine pistols from the full auto rule.

I've never understood why people exclude machine pistols from the full auto rule. I've always assumed that it was because they have a very limited magazine capacity, usually 40-30 rounds, compared to AEGs with Hi-caps and even some Mid-caps.

You can't really pin anyone down with a full-auto sidearm, even with the 50rnd hi-caps like M11's, MP9s, ect. have. You'd could easily get shot between mag changes or by running out of magazines. So I'd think you'd be more cautious with the FA abilities of them. EDIT. Just got a response that they will adjust to MIA rules and that the web site was just a placeholder until the revised web site goes up. Good to know.

OK, but from a safety stand point it's no different. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

Most of the time too, machine pistols are well under the 350fps limit as well.

From what I've seen, most sidearms chrono at under 300fps (want to say 280 ballpark). I believe O'Dwah meant that sidearms are often way under the 350FPS limit (250-300 in most cases from what I've seen). Sense FPS is exponential, 250-300FPS vs 350FPS is a decent difference. I'm not worried about a pistol messing me up because of the limits of them. I'm not gonna see a 30-50rps 350fps G18c or something like that. Even then, that's literally their entire magazine and that's it. They can't quite pin me down with a high rate of fire and a 300+ round hi-cap magazine shooting in the ballpark of ~350 from an AEG can.
That's not to say that people can't deck sidearms out to match AEGs, it's just not as likely and simply not as bad in most circumstances. FA is just simply a last resort in most cases. Even with FA sidearms you'd be more wise to use SA instead to conserve ammo/energy (gas or battery). Sure, you can light somebody up with your entire magazine and most likely get shot whilst reloading by the next person coming through, or just a few quick burst shots would have sufficed to get both of them out and still be in the game to get more.
Most smart host runners can make judgement calls on guns. For instance if johnny brings in a decently hot (340-350fps) G18c with a bunch of 50rnd extended magazines, that host or event runner would be wise to limit them to semi-auto only. I simply rarely see sidearms that are too hot to run FA, this isn't always the case, but I'm sure it's the majority.

Exactly, and besides, who are you gonna hurt with a 250 fps TM Skorpion.

Andrew is spot on. When we started allowing machine pistols to use full auto back at Farmington, they had to chrono under 300 FPS and couldn't use some sort of high capacity style mag (the TM G18 AEP had what was essentially a 100 round hicap available to it). The idea was that they FPS was low enough to significantly reduce danger and magazine capacity was low enough to significantly reduce shitting all over game play. They were also rare enough that it only really add a couple full auto guns to each team, which wasn't near enough to change the flow of the game.

I'm definitely stoked about this place, especially since cqb is like crack to me. Time to dust off my MP5 and hope they keep to what they said about conforming to MiA rules.

So I'm a bit late to this conversation and I'll keep my response short.
I am 31 years old and to me No place that allows unsafe play is worth going to. Who cares what is or isn't a serious injury. I expect some pain from the bb sting as it comes with the game but any harm beyond that isn't worth it. I can go and play 3 other places closer to me and have a good time instead. This is a game to let loose, enjoy and have a good time. Not to spend a couple hours digging bb's our of my arm or trying to find a tooth.
MIA rules were clearly designed for fun safe play... why the hell would we want anything else?
BTW Is there any idea what the place will actually look like? layouts? Will it be all open or game levels?
It would be nice if they had photos on their site that weren't just of some players on white backgrounds with bad photoshop work but rather the actual field.

As mentioned, they will adapt to MIA regulations.
The top 7 levels are playable and I provided a few sketches for them to design a few levels. A lot of those levels are still under construction.
The web site will be updated once the place is actually up and running. The earliest would be in January but will likely be delayed due to city requirements.

I'm also super late into this conversation, but do they realize the money they would bring in just from MIA alone. You would think if they realized this they would be open to everything, especially when it comes to events at there establishment.
