Is the winter the off season for Airsoft? Since this is my first winter with it I thught I'd ask. I'm prety sure the t AEG work just the same as the rest of the year. What kind of gear is used in the winter, is there a type of snow clothes? Is there certen things you cant use? I know gas guns will not function. Will it mater a hole lot if your gun gets a little wet from the snow?

Winter tends to be the off season for airsoft, yep. The colder temps effect all guns, not just GBBs. AEG batteries will drain faster in the cold, gun bodies/parts could possibly break easier, and you'll also probably need to readjust your hop-up from its warm weather setting, since the cold can make the rubber contract. As for gear and clothing, I'd say it's just like any other time of the year. Use what you want and whatever works.

Will that hurt the batteries, the cold weather?

It shouldn't, but I'm no battery expert, so I can't say for certain. There has been some good discussion recently on the AirsoftOhio forums about different types of batteries and how they are effected by cold, so a search there might shed some more light. I believe Wallace was the author of some of the posts.

the only way that you can kill your battery due to cold weather is from EXTREME HEAT OR COLD. im sure so one will be playing under freezing temps with their gunsso you wont have to worry about it, also, the snow factor, if you get any water inside the electrical parts, well water and electricity dont mix you know that. The main winter stuff i try to do is indoor like m40 or something. My big winter worry though is the plastic breaking becaues in this sport, a small piece of plastic costs 20$ and up unless you have mulitple replacements. but yea i would reccommend playing indoor and warm places, or do like me and build a custom gun and surprise everyone in the spring, i plan on making my own creation. ;D i hope to get everything i need by january and have it ready for next season.

That was my idea, Derick. Save and arm up during the winter. Stockpile, like zee chipmunks!
Now I've just got to decide if I want an SAS MP5 or a Patriot for CQB. Damn me and my wants!

HEHE!, yeah that was one strange day. I was moving up towards Bigmack's position and Biggie turns to me and says: "Look". Of course everything looked ok from the outside and all I could really hear was some strange buzzing sound which made me think. "What the, since when does Biggie have an electric bb loader??" It wasn't till I got within close proximity of Bigmack that I noticed he was in fact pulling the trigger on his G3 of doom. Cold=bad. Of course I still want to play in winter cos I've got snow camo dammit, and I wanna use it! ;D

This weekend I am playing at my friends house. Channal 8 says it will be about 50. Thats a good temp. right? How cold was it when Bigmacks gun?
I have played in 50d. before and the gas guns were fine, loss of range though. What kind of effect will snow/water have on a gas gun?

really really cold. i think it was around 10 degrees with windchill that day...
water is water...snow is frozen water... obviously if you get anything into the moving slide/frame interface on a gas gun, you're gumming up the works... it's water, of course...so it'll wipe down...

That breakage was probably due to the grease congealing (sp?) [getting thick] and causing enough stress to shatter/shred the brittle gears. We are trying (emphasis on trying) to get some events planned for the M40 indoor places over the winter. they heat the building (a little) so you can actually use GBB's but it is not shall we say "balmy"

Is it the same M40 last time or would it be the other place? (I think they have two, not sure)

Acutally for Team Socom We play 3 to 4 times a week during the winter, thats when it really gets popular for us. Havent tried a aeg yet for winter, usually its just our insane springer wars and minis. BTW when you say the place in holland, It really hurts my feelings, Maybe you guys dont have any respect for Hamilton, BUT M40 Paintball is in Hamilton, Please for the respect of my small worthless town, WE try.
