Yep, I'm going with the patrol philosophy (learned it reading McNab's SAS book). Resupplying while on patrol is very dangerous and impossible if you're trying to stay covert. I plan on bringing my pack everywhere I go, but leaving it at a staging point or just dropping it when I hit some action (so long as there are some land marks around so it doesn't disappear ;D)
Regardless the DOAV is a very nice vest... I recommend it to all.
A side note: I read one review where the author complained about the length of the pouch lids on the primary mags. They are very long (not too long compared to the omega tecs). However, I believe they serve a very practical purpose. Their size makes them easy to locate, grab, and tear open in a high intensity situation... you can grab the long side and tear sideways just as easy. Also with the mag retention strap and clip inside each mag pouch I believe the extended velcro and pouch with the adjustable strap equals one thing. The ability to store different odd sized magazines. While I don't have one off hand, I'm willing to bet the DOAV could facilitate AK mags, G3 mags, SIG mags, and possibly AUG and P90 mags. These are large pouches and you can sacrifice pouch front/back size for greater width.
