I'm insane when it comes to realism... if they do it... i'm doing it.
That includes body armor. I was considering buying an Omega-Tec vest from blackhawk, but it seems like something law enforcement would use more. My eyes are on the blackhawk DOAV and urban warfare vests. The DOAV was used in the movie blackhawkdown by delta and is said to be historically accurate. My real concern exists with body armor. I was reading through my navy seals ship bording manual and it showed pictures of a standard outfitting broken down into steps. They wear a kevlar vest inside of their vest. Would a real operator wear a vest inside a DOAV... i know they do for the urban warfare vest (it says so on blackhawks website). Also, does a SEAL wear a vest under a LBV for woodland combat?

I think it would depend on the mission and the operator,a lot of the times they are wearing body armor under their gear ,but like sp force in desert having to move rapidly some choose not to wear it and some do .Keep in mind that wearing such stuff while playing could cause you to over heat, goggles fog ,get sick ect...Real operators use what best for thier situation....and thats always changing

I noticed a lot of sp forces in iraq and afganistan like those blackhawk commando chest rigs....

I think those rigs are either handmade or issue, I can't see operator buying mid-range gear like Blackhawk. Super, if you can get a hold top-of-the-line high-speed gear then be prepared to shell out some big bucks (like that Jaegerkorp Assault Vest).
As for the SEALs, they only wear vests during boarding operations and patrols in urban areas. In fact, that's the only time that any sane person assigned to a combat unit wears a kevlar vest.

Black hawk is not bad gear ,not as good as say sotech or tactical tailor but its still good ,and there a lot of it in action overseas...

Actually, I believe DevilDog (currently in action in Iraq) posted a little while ago about ordering some blackhawk gear. Go figure. I'm of the opinion that gear is gear. If it works, and works well, the name on the tags doesn't matter. I tend to think that the real-steel operators probably feel the same way. *shrug* I'm just a humility-challenged scrawny dude with no aspirations for a military career though. Take my opinions as you may

hmmm.... very nice vest that danish is!
I'm thinking of going with a DOAV for indoor (black) and RACK for outdoor, forgoing the kevlar all together

THough it probably doesn't need to be said, check out Lightfighter's forums for what sort of gear active duty personnel are wearing. Myself, I'm going to be wearing a simple H harness LBV for indoors and a BH Strike Commando Recon chest harness for outdoors.

Both are overkill for anything indoors IMO. If you need as many pockets to carrying things as the DOAV has, then you seriously need to reconsider what you're taking with you, besides the fact it would be extremely bulky.

I think you're right about the DOAV that would be a kick ass vest for outdoors in WC... I am liking the eagle phase III though... not bulky rear ventalation, radio holding, looks sharp, and it is the vest modeled for the new rainbow six games

Personally, I'm going with a BHI Strike Recon harness (~$80 at Lightfighter) for my new gear setup. Modularity kicks ass.
