what's over doing it... the new military equipment? It is basically a scaled down STRIKE vest with protection on key areas, plus a probably extremely expensive helmet, and integrated knee pads on the bdu pants (good idea)

That wouldn't be to practical for the services because you couldn't run. And it looks extremely bulky.

bulky? compared to the current loadout of a marine this set up is light weight. I actually think that uniform is pretty badass. Not only good looking but practical. The knee pads, the layout of the vest and armor is compact and effecient (and it better be since the military is developing it) and the helmet would protect against NBCs, offer hearing protection, and an integrated communications system all in one. (I could go for one of those helmets... ;D)

amen to that... it's kind of refreshing to see that the military is equiping SWAT technology (ie the armor on the shoulder and bicep that stops the bullets from entering the chest cavity) to better protect our troops.

It looks like the shoulder pads were thrown in for airsoft protection. I wish I had that much money to spend.

That's just a crappy mockup of what the FCS looks like right now, it doesn't even use the new pattern like the real stuff does. Here's what it looks like:

do you have anymore pictures of it? This new vest is awesome (come on Guarder and make a replica...)
The camo doesn't seem too camo for woodland... is that euro type or perhaps even desert.

Yeah, I have two more: It's browness is a trend with US camo called "Coyote Brown". Since I'm sure you've seen pics of MARPAT, you've probably noticed the browness of that camo as well. The theory is that since so many animals in so many different inviroments have that shade of brown that it must be an element of any universal camo. Theoretically, it should work in any enviroment, from woodland to urban and anything in between.

THREAD BUMP I've just stumbled upon this really awesome Artkis vest. It is an Arktis Special Operations Assault Vest 1600. I'm torn between this one and the Blackhawk DOAV. Both cost the same. Please give me a suggestion and specific reasons why (I'm leaning toward buying American).

(I'm leaning toward buying American). Guess that rules out Blackhawk. ;D

Yeah, I'd probably go for Arktis over BH for quality.

Personally I wouldn't buy either, however, Artkis is definitely the superior of manufacturers as well as the Specops vest being the more "unique" of the two.

I'm with Motown, I'd wouldn't buy either of them. If I were you I'd go for something modular instead, like say a nice HSG Wasatch. It'll be better in the long run as it'll let you configure the vest to best suit the operation requirements/demands (not that it matters much for airsoft, but you know what I mean.)
