I've been playing on and off at Futureball for about a year now, and was planning on heading out there soon. However, I was never aware of the bio bb rule. It was not enforced at -all- last year, what so ever. I also assumed that you guys held to MIA standards, as well.
I'm glad to see you guys posting here, and while I am glad to see that you guys have severely toned down your engagement FPS limits, I still think it would be best just to conform to MIA limits. I've had BB's embed themselves in my skin, through my shirt, back when MTAC was still going. Which means it was UNDER 350 FPS. Getting hurt is not fun (okay it's a little fun, but nothing serious). And as some people have stated, FPS is not directly intrinsic to a gun's effective range.
As for the face protection rule, I've never had a problem with that. I know some places have a "paintball mask" requirement, which is just silly, as a shell or mesh lower will do the job just as, if not better. The barrel condoms, in my opinion, is a rule I think every field should follow. It's just a good habit.
On the subject of Bio BB's. I did not know this was a requirement, and me and my crew have been shooting hard plastic for about a year. That's our bad. I don't mind shooting Bio's in my rifles and such, but none of them are heavily upgraded, EXCEPT my SVD (MS ARC's old beast). I wouldn't dare shoot Bio's in that thing, and I understand both your guys' reasoning, with the run off streams, but at the same time I understand airsofters not wanting to use them. I'd suggest finding an alternative to allow for plastic to be used, if an alternative can be found.
You guys have an amazing field, and have the capability to make it so much better. You guys are pretty much the only legitimate field in southeastern Michigan, with your only competition really being No Limits, and you guys have a unique opportunity to pull in a -lot- of people, if you just give airsofters a chance. I'd drop your limits to MIA limits, and look for alternatives for the BIO BB thing, and maybe extend your airsofting time a bit, but other than that, I hope you guys grow, and help out the community. And I'll be out to your guys' field sometime soon, as soon as my sight for my UMP comes in.

I'd suggest finding an alternative to allow for plastic to be used, if an alternative can be found. Biodegradable BBs have come a long way. I don't see any disadvantage to using them whatsoever (besides an increase in price). Everyone on my team uses them regardless of field rules because it's just the right thing to do. The exception is maybe for snipers, or those who have to shoot +0.3-gram BBs for accuracy reasons. Edit: If anyone is disturbed my my double-posting/erratic editing/post deleting, it's because I'm having some very strange issues with the forums right now.

also the 26th is player appreciation day which is free play for all players rentals still cost $10, but there will be giveaways and raffled off guns. I'm sure the field bbs rule won't go away by then but it's free play, come out and show support for airsoft! If you intend on having a good turnout for this one, I highly recommend you make a thread in the Event Planning section, but be sure to read this and this first. A lot of us on here look at the Airsoft Events section for what events are coming up, and if the only written information we have is in this thread, you won't get much exposure. If your event is accepted from the Events Planning Section and is posted to the Events section, it's free publicity, it will increase your turnout and thus your revenue, and the more airsofters the better, both for us and for Futureball. I'd also advise you post it as soon as possible. The earlier you post up an event, the more exposure it gets and it also gives players more time to prepare. I'm sure some people won't attend because of field BBs, but you're missing out on the ones who wouldn't mind field BBs but just don't know about this thread/Futureball. Be sure to follow the Event posting rules though, because your thread will be denied if it doesn't fit the rules/specifications listed in the stickied threads. A well organized game deserves a well written thread.

Soooooooo. You guys reeeeeaaaally fucked up this time.
I was reading on Facebook (Airsoft Classifieds (Airsoft Craigslist)) on how you guys allowed a bb gun (a .177 caliber) onto the field and someone got shot in the face with it. He apparently bled for five hours because of it, and you guys were unable to find who did it or offer any type of explanation on how it was allowed to happen.
If I were the guy who got hit, I would already have a lawyer, and I really hope that he lawyers up as well. You deserve whatever you have coming to you.
In case you're wondering, my .177 pistol went right through one of my spare pairs of goggles. It also conforms to the ANSI ratings that run standard on this page. If the shot was a couple inches down and right, he would have lost an eye. And still, the best explanation you could give was not any explanation at all.
I hope you're proud of yourself and your lackadaisical rules and safety checks.
I for one, will be avoiding your field like the plague.
I'm not sure how to link FB pages, otherwise I would.

Puma,
Can you get the injured player to make an account here and post his side of the story? It would be great to have this information not be second hand, and it would probably be good for the guy to find some better games through the community anyway.

Whoa, hold up there. You missed a lot of extra details. I was at the event today that this occurred at, and saw the damage firsthand (was very bad). During the day, about two hours into the session, Evan from the Forefront Airsoft Team was shot in the forehead by something. We don't know what it was. He bled a lot, and didn't see who did it. He was wearing full-seal goggles and a mesh lower. The projectile hit him right above the goggles. At the time that this happened, I was leaving the field due to some battery issues. I was on my way back when suddenly the referees were freaking out. I was on "Yellow" team (we had yellow tape armbands), which was the team opposing Evan. Chris (Futureball field manager) made everyone on yellow team re-chrono, because they believed at the time that the shot came from a super-powerful airsoft gun. The problem from a liability standpoint (as another Forefront member mentioned to me) is that they only chrono'd the yellow team. Totally inadequate. I inspected the wound myself, and I can say with relative certainty that it was not caused by an airsoft BB. The skin was torn, not indented, indicating that the projectile most likely had a pointed tip, and thus was a pellet from a pellet gun. Chris believes that, whoever it was, brought a pellet/BB pistol out to the field, fired it, and then most likely left it out there. The perpetrator was never caught, there is no explanation, and puma1 is correct in his statements. I just wanted to add some firsthand detail. Evan is fine, as far as I know. I doubt he will lawyer up though, since it didn't seem like he blamed Futureball for what happened. I'm not sure how much of this kind of stuff is covered by the waiver. I am going to be closely looking through my team's video, as we had three cameras going at the time in the same relative area. Yes

To quote Evan specifically
"No actually I found the bb in my shirt an hour ago." and "I found the bb when I in tucked my shirt from my pants."
Safe to say its a BB.
