So I had been talking to a(pretty excentric) airsoft player and the topic turned to him and a friend building a tank to use in airsoft. In fact this vehicle was supposed to make its apearance at the recent Jackal game. Although I would love to use one of those babies I wanted to talk with MiA about any regulations regarding moterized vehicles in an airsoft game. I know in fields around the country and (Scotland) use Amored personel carriers, but i wasnt sure about Michigan. Things such as: Airsoft version tanks ATVs EVs FAVs Golf Carts And anything else you can think of

The hardest part is finding a field that supports it. So far the only two events that I know of which support vehicles are Blind Fury and Lion Claws. Since there's basically no fields around here that are big enough MIA doesn't have any predefined rules regarding vehicles. Any rules would be at the sole discretion of the event host / field owner.

I had thought that may have been the case. I know Lion Claw uses vehicles but anything other than that I wasnt to sure on. I mean, I didnt want to show up with an FAV or ie. Tank and find a rule regarding.
I guess my question is more along the lines of, If its ok with the host and property owners is it then acceptable to be used?

Best bet is to just ask whoever is hosting the game if they are allowed and what the rules are. I think because of different insurance companies you will probably see different rules at every event. Hell, Lion Claws has different rules at the same event. If you find a field that allows full size trucks let me know. Were still looking for a place to field the A-Team truck. If you are thinking about making any significant investment into a vehicle I would advise against it since there's no where to take them. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

My engineer has a couple old EVs he was going to convert to FAVs and an aquaintace from another team has that tank I mention, plus other vehicle projects. Other than that its just an idea. We are working on securing a 200 acre field that may be able to support them. Just a thought

Well if you open up a big field anywhere close to southeast Michigan we would come out.

The other thing to consider is the fact that a vehicle can only be destroyed by a rocket hit from a launcher of some sort usually. Not many people have those around here, let alone one that has any real range. At Northern Lights, I was one of just a couple that had one. One that worked dependably for that matter.
But maybe the introduction of vehicles would spur people to invest in one. I for one would love to see vehicles used around MI. It really changes the game dynamics. If nothing else, you could use it at major events. Good luck with it.

Or you could find someone with big Brass balls to run up and lob a grenade in there *shrug* Kill the crew kill the tank. But I see where your going with it. If its introduced then rules of being able to destroy or disable it would have to be in effect to prevent imbalance in a game.
On the other note X, if we open a field it will be in Thumb Michigan. That close enough for you?

We would, but only a 2-3 times a year. I don't want to make any promises of coming out every weekend or something.

Couple of friends and I have a plan for a tank in the next year or two, we always wondered where we could use it.

Or you could find someone with big Brass balls to run up and lob a grenade in there *shrug* Kill the crew kill the tank. Please don't do this. The grenadier is pointlessly endangering himself to the hazards of the vehicle's large, heavy, motorized self - there's no promise that the crew is aware of you, and in fact, chances are the grenadier in this situation is actively trying not to be seen: protecting himself against the in-game threat of the vehicle's weapons, while exposing himself to an out-of-game danger. Additionally, depending on the design of the grenade and the tank, you may be vastly endangering the crew as well. A bang grenade will be going off inside the confined interior near the crew, who is likely not wearing hearing protection - much more serious than a grenade tossed by hand. A BB-thrower will pepper the crew with a larger than usual portion of its pellets, and can also damage the interior equipment (which likely is not built to ruggedness specs). Event hosts can determine the best course of action for destroying vehicles, but hand grenades really should not be an option.

Well we are working on a field. and at having one large enough for vehicles. X I dont epect it every weekend. And Impulse as much as I would be willing to do this in a REAL combat zone, I wouldnt even dare on the airsoft field. The danger of the vehicle itself.. the risk of danger to the crew.. I have seen people hurt bad and jsut the thought of an explostion in a confined space like that would deture me from trying... we're talking a bang grenade turning into a concusion grenade. No I wouldnt even think of it in an airsoft event.

Codename: Thunder uses vehicles, thought that's in Illinois (not a terribly far drive, and it's a good game for the price, usually). I haven't been in a couple of years, but when I went there were two tanks, one a vintage piece, the other an SUV with a makeshift turret on top. They also had some ATV's and motorcycle-sidecar combos. Well if you open up a big field anywhere close to southeast Michigan we would come out. Sent from my Nexus 7 using proboards Seconded. I'm from A2, so I'd be down. Even if it is in the Thumb.

I would think that the any vehicle in Michigan would need proper licensing and permits for off-road and on-road travel.
