Didn't know if this should be in this section or tech questions, Mods feel free to move if needed.
So in the next few coming months i'm planning on making a Polar star DMR. I really want to use the G&G GR-25 as the base gun and get a drop in fusion engine get a prommy barrel, R-Hop it and get a URXIII rail. That's as far as I really have gotten with this idea for this project. I have never really handled a P* before but I have a grasp on its concept. I'm looking for info on what I should purchase along with the drop in fusion engine and the base gun also, where I can get a decent URXIII replica RIS that will fit.
Money really isn't an issue so i'm looking to get the "best" for this project. Also being a DMR I want to keep a Low profile rig and I know I have to get a good HPA tank, so that being said I want one that is small enough to put in a MAP backpack but large enough in capacity to last me a full OP.
If anyone knows where in the Plymouth Canton where tanks can be filled regularly for a decent price i'd love to know that also.
Any feedback will help, Also links to where I may purchase these things are great too.

The SR25 gearbox design is longer then a standard V2, so I don't know how it will fit.

Do they make a nozzle that would fit?

www.airsoftjunkiez.com sells a ready-to-go p* sr-25 so my guess is yes. Polarstar has already made nozzles for close to anything with a version 2 gearbox so you should be ok. To the OP, what kind of FPS would you like to see out of it? Provide me with a little more info and I could link you everything (that's p*) that you need. The above link is where I ordered my entire setup. They are in GA so items will typically take 3 days to deliver. www.ampedairsoft.com is another major distributor but they go out of stock frequently.

Well I know I'm going to get different nozzles for different fields. But most of the time I want about 500 with .20 and ill probably be using .40s with it

It's high fps like that that causes most players to dislike P*s

Yeah I realize that. But I wouldn't be using it that way all the time. It would all depend on where I'm playing. Such as if I was too be playing at No Limits I definitely wouldn't have it that high seeing a lot of the engagement are close. But if I was at a bigger field like HiTW I would have it about that fps because of the larger in distance engagements. Also my MED I'm fine with I plan on using my mp7 with it and that's at about 350 fps. Also, slippy do you know what the base gun for the sr-25 they sell is by any chance? Not to pick a fight with a mod but I'm pretty sure that with the time and money spent any AEG could hit that threshold. So in that respect how is a P* any different from an AEG? P*'s do have a Semi-only mode so it's not like it's a problem. I would also like to state that almost every complaint I've heard on the platform is user related, not equipment related. To the OP: www.airsoftjunkiez.com/airsoftjunkiez-custom-dmr-polarstar-installation-sr-25-platform/ Here is the link to it. The V2 Gen 3 will drop into almost anything that utilizes a V2 gearbox. Kwa's used to be a bit finicky but that issue has been addressed. The linked platform is ready to shoot aside from you needing to purchase an air rig and a tank. The only thing is that Polarstars are HIGHLY adjustable. miairsoft.proboards.com/thread/42566/guide-polarstar-fusion-engine Read this thoroughly. The great thing is though, if you mess up on tuning all you have to do is hold down the analog stick while connecting the FCU to a power supply (mini-LiPo or duracell 9v) and you are right back to default settings. If you have any questions at all on what you should buy, how to tune, or how to install it please feel free to PM me. I have the knowledge to make a p* run all the way down to 35psi (recommended is 80-120)

I would also like to state that almost every complaint I've heard on the platform is user related, not equipment related. This is coming from someone who has hosted events for the past three years as polarstars have become more popular. Now before you go getting your undies in a bunch because I made a comment that may sound against polarstars let break down what I wrote: "This will limit you to semi only and at least a 50ft MED at any MIA event" This statement has NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM USING A POLARSTAR. This is the way MIA evnts are set up for fps limits. Has nothing to do with what type of replica he is using. I would say the same thing to any player saying they wanted to use a not bolt action replica at that FPS. Do most players run their replica at this type of fps? Not really. I've probably chronoed 10-15 aegs that were in the 500fps range that were set up as legitimate DMR platforms. How many polarstars have I had come out on the field that are shooting in that range? Probably about 50%, and only two of those were set up in a DMR platform. Just to give you a hint, we've had almost 150 players at each of our last two events, and most players chrono 2-3 replicas, so roughly 300-400 replicas and maybe 1-3 were in that fps range. So before you go getting defensive about what you THINK I was saying, I'm speaking from personal experience as an event host, who has had many talks with players about their thoughts on the polarstar platform. I am in no way saying that I think that everyone who uses a P* is a fps jerk. The guys from HOG and the gentleman from Monroe both used the benefits of the platform at our last game without being a jerk. I've also had players shooting hotter that any other replica I've ever chronoed using a P* and they thought it was fine. I won't even mention the issues I had as a player at NL4 with the entire squad of assholes with P* who for the most part made the idea of "milsim" a fucking joke at a national event.

All of your concerns are legit, however they fall under the operator, not the equipment, category of abuse. Here's my idea on how to treat the use of P*'s. Treat them as you would any other AEG or spring setup. I assume that the MIA FPS standards are there for a reason which means that you can't really complain too much when people fall within allowable limits.
Pagan I understand that it's entirely too easy to make an EPAR shoot 399FPS @ 1,000,000RPS (over-exaggeration intended for dramatic effect). The people who turn them into "blurp-guns" are idiots. You have to change mags every couple seconds and it doesn't make you any better of a player. By the way, what is your definition of a "DMR"? I've seen them from an M16/M4 with a longer barrel, bipod and high mag scope to the modern version of the M14 while in the service. So, not trying to nit-pick, what is your definition of a proper DMR?
My suggestion is that you, as a mod and event coordinator, start the discussion into having a set limit for BPS at all MIA backed events. If you did something like this I would support it 100%. The problems are becoming more and more apparent among P*'s AND AEG's.
With this in mind, it's to OP's money and if it's what he wants to do then who are any of us to tell him why he shouldn't when he didn't ask? P*'s are amazingly reliable platforms and when used responsibly can fill any role at all from CQB to sniping. I personally run mine just under 400fps @ right around 20bps.

I don't mind p*'s on the field, but you shouldn't be able to just blatantly point out that they are the guy with the p*. Unfortunately there is always the person on the field that abuses it.
A good example was a person who most likely cranked up their psi after chrono. He was a good 20 feet away from me and shot at me through very heavy brush that was about 8 foot thick. His full auto burst made me bleed in several places. Crazy thing was, when I tried to shoot through that same brush later in the day, There was no way I could punch through it at 400fps.
It would be nice if people could just follow the rules.

I'm not planning om being a "fps jerk" I just want to make a reputable DMR platform. That can in turn reach out to far distances and be accurate. I will also be purchasing different nozzles and possibly another reciever with a shorter barrel making it convenient for different fields. Also slippy I don't think I'm going to go with that option. I had emailed them and they use A&K base gun for their SR-25 build. Not to big of a fan of A&K. EDIT: Also I will be using the Tournament lock option on the air rig just to show that I won't be "one of those people" who abuse it. I want to be honorable and responsible with the equipment so people won't hate playing with me. Sent from my SCH-I535 using proboards

Some of the A&K bodies aren't too bad. I have an LR300 body I dropped a g&g gearbox into. The externals are pretty solid. Not sure of the quality of some of their other guns though.

My definition of a DMR is a replica that is built for accuracy and range. DMR has NOTHING to do with fps/bps in my book. Doing everything you can to extend your range ( R-hop/TBB, Fine tuning bucking and nub) is what makes a DMR to me. I have a Star FNC that is silly accurate at 250ft. It shoots 289 fps with .25s. I held back an entire squad while holding an airfield at the 28 mile field. Why? Because I could accurately hit them LONG before the could even get in range to try and hit me. Ghast has an SR25 is that is frightening, Triggs SSR is a sheer monster. Both are standard aeg platforms that have been tweeked and fine tuned to preform, that's what makes them a dmr. Hell, TheEnd's M14 is probably the most impressive replica I've ever seen for range and accuracy, p* and aeg alike.
If you look back at any of my posts through out my time here, I have always been a proponent of accuracy vs fps. I don't think there is any reason players need replicas shooting over 450 fps (with the exception on bolt action rifles) I've had disagreements with players who have built their 40 bps replicas who want to play full auto indoors. Why? Because it's not necessary, and it's not particularly safe in my opinion. I've told people they are not allowed to use hot replicas at my events. I've changed the rules for our island games, that once people cross over to the island and it becomes close quarters, that it is semi auto only. I think this sport should be FUN, and there is nothing fun about getting blasted full auto by a 400fps replica at close range.
My biggest issue with the P* platform is the amount of PLAYERS that abuse it's capabilities. They make their replica shoot as hard as they can and as fast as they can. It's not the platform is self, but sadly it is the majority of the players that are using it that is causing issues.
I have several teammates who have P*s ( Gimpalong, CTman) and who have used them (Gunny) as well as know many players who use/have used them in a respectful manner ( Zander, Oneshotonemiss and his sons, the guys from Palisade, Miles, Sham... ), but sadly they are the minority in my experience.
I wasn't telling the OP that his choice was bad. I was suggesting that using a fps that high is why most players dislike the platform, because sadly that is how a large majority of the players who use them run them. I would have said the same thing if he wanted to create an AEG shooting in those ranges, but you see far less of those on the field than you do P*s. If I had to deal with a field full of 500 fps aegs every time I went out to play, I wouldn't play. Plain and simple. It's not necessary to have a replica shooting that range of fps to be accurate with great range. I try to discourage this type of thinking, because it's just not true. It's unfortunate that the majority of players who have this mindset are using P*s.
As far as limiting ROF on players replicas, it's not something as an event host I have a right to do. Players can have the set up they want as long as it falls within the rules set by MIA standards. Do I think it's dumb? Yes, and I'm probably going to tell the person what I think, because it's my opinion. Will I stop them from playing? No, not until they do something to endanger another player, or do something outside the rules. If you become known as the guy who pushes his replica to the extreme limits of what is allowed, just to be a dick and do it, then people will quickly stop wanting to play with you.
In my mind this is the same kind of argument people have about gun control. A gun is an inanimate object, it doesn't do anything the operator doesn't make it do. There are good people and bad people who use guns, but there are no bad guns. What I'm saying is don't be a dick about it. Can I shoot a .50 Desert Eagle at a deer, while I'm hunting. Yes, I can. Do I? No I don't. Why not? Just because I can, doesn't mean I should.
People need to learn this.
