Could tactical ak's just go away. Unless properly done (krebs or ak-12 or some actual Kalashnikov guns) tactical ak's shouldn't exist, american's need to stop the obsession with rails on 95% of a gun.

You are actually exactly right, hence why rails like the troy alpha rails, KAC urx3, where you only have rails where you need them are becoming popular.

As for this weird AK thing, they have been out for a long time now on the HK shops, and yeah it looks pretty weird. I actually like the regular Mag K's in general, but is this thing even possible in real life? It doesn't look like the gas tube would even line up.

Why is it that I can't get affordable means of building proper obscure Kalashnikov models or get specific parts easily, yet I see every year piles of disfigured crap like this? Why must this keep happening?

If they are going to make something odd, make a bloody Khyber Pass style rifle. That way, at least it has the charm of being known for questionable workmanship, but still fire-able somewhat.

When I see examples like this, I also have to ask, are these actually being sold enough to justify more of them, or are all the factories just tossing parts left over from past runs of the separate weapon families into a blender just for giggles?

But really, if I want an AK-47, I want it in all of its wooden, decades old glory. The beauty of it is in its uniqueness. Sure, 90% part compatibility and 50 rail mounts is great and all for modern weapons, but this (the classic AK) is not a modern weapon.

EDIT: I suddenly realize that we complain about tactical AK's having too many rails, but the gun pictured only has about an inch of rail space (but it's still butt ugly).
