Very impressed and proud of the Army Rangers! I had the pleasure of leading multiple squads and I must say the level of dedication and all around skill of my team was amazing. Most of the time verbal commands were unneeded which just makes my day.
The special missions I thought were pertinent to us being Army Rangers i.e. Ambush, Respawn Relocation, Document Recovery, and Photographic evidence of certain Structures/Locations for Intel. I also thought the game-long mission of holding CIA 14 added a nice dynamic to the game, requiring leadership to split squads and prioritize the main mission from special missions. Definitely put some work on the C.O.'s shoulders for this one.
Best Mil-Sim to date for me by far. This felt very much like how I would expect the "real thing" to go. Army Rangers being outnumbered heavily but better organized and equipped, the Russian Grunts being larger but still having decent weaponry and leadership, and the Ukrainian Rebels being large in number but lacking in direction and having "untrained" fighters.
Having 100% of the Futureball field to ourselves felt great too. The size was absolutely perfect for the amount of people we had. Large enough for stealth maneuvers (Ambush mission), but also not too small for 100+ people. I even think 50 more would fit nicely.
Best highlight for the day was leading a squad of Rangers in a stealth mission to set up an ambush between the Russian Grunt's respawn and CIA 14 to cut off reinforcements. We were able to remain unseen while moving to the required location, even passing within 20 yards of OpFor. After finding the location we called it in to Command and waited for the order to strike. After being given the OK by Command we hit their reinforcements hard. We eliminated quite a few Grunts and even after the surprise of the ambush we were able to hold the location for quite a while with only 6 Rangers. Even long after the fact, we were taking fire from all directions from both Grunts and Rebels and only took 1 wounded (healed by Medic). Quite a cool moment if I do say so myself .
No negative things to say at all. Refs were around when needed and If they were not in view they were easily reached through the designated radio channel. No excuses for many complaints if a ref can be easily reached.
Radios are key... Not having communication with your team detracts from your experience and only helps other teams beat you.
Also, President Palin gave me a good laugh.
Looking forward to -Fueling the Fire- at Splatmandu!
