Thank you to all who attended. 104 in total, Airsoft of Kalamazoo's first 100 man event. Great sportsmanship by all and great job Rangers. Of course Mother Nature played her role (batteries, guns breaking) but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves regardless. Will report more later for I am on the droid.

This by far is one of the best kzoo games I have attended. Field- The field was truthfully just the right size for the amount of people that attended. Even though it was snow covered and kind of wet it was not bad at all Game play- This game had the best game play of any game I have ever attended. It was fast paced and you never had to travel to far to find some action. Radio's- Well the one down side of the game was the radio usage. Almost know one had radio's and it made it very difficult to communicate with others and especially are CO. CO-At first are Co was now where to be seen and was truthfully making me kind of mad due to his lack of incompetency, but after about an hour or so he got his stuff together and pulled out a relatively good job. Players- The quality of player was very good and I really didn't have a problem with hit calling, but it seemed as if the civi team was a little inexperienced and it put them at a disadvantage all day. Objectives- The objectives where very put together and kept me interested all day. I especially enjoyed the objectives that involved capturing civi's ( I got 3 today ) Tino, Munster, and the crew- It was great seeing you all again, and I hope to attend as many of your events as possible. Over all- It was a great day filled with non stop action, good fun, and good people. I would give this game easily 9/10.

Ahh I missed a great game by the sounds of it. Looks like playing today just wasn't in the cards for me. I had to skip the event to take a Project Management Certification prep course, and then I woke up this morning with the stomach flu...

Several player on our team (civi) were new commers to the sport. However, I am pleased with the efforts that they have made thoughout the battle. I thought they had proformed effectivly for they'r first time ever playing the sport.
The level of sportsmanship, thoughtout the fighting, was very acceptional. All day, I did not hear any name calling, or any hostilites for that matter.
It was a bit dissapointing that some of the players on our team left the game. It was from my understanding that it was because several AEGs went dead during the fighting. However, I do not hold any hard feelings for those who have decided to leave.
Now, I would like to apologies for if there was any moment that i did not call my hit when i should have. As a player of the sport, I try and do my best to make sure I'm abiding by the rules, and playing fair. Moreover, I try and pass these morals down to my fellow team members. All it takes is to swallow some pride and call your hit when you are shot.
Overall, I think it was a great game by all players involved. Tino, it was a pleasure seeing you and KZoo there. You guys know how to set it up!
To all civilians, we hung in there the best we could. I couldn't ask for more.
Good job Mopedman. Pleasure to serve under you once again.

First of, thanks AOK. Good game, awsome turn out.
Had a good time. I think we (Rebels) did really good seeing that about half our team told me this was there first time playing. We were doing good all day still, till the point that half our team left. at one point we were down to 6 guys with working guns. Also we had a big radio problems. No ones radios were working good.
My fav. part of the day was when we took the both the other teams flags and hung them upsidedown off our base for every one to see.
Had a blast.

Final Scores: 1st Place: Army Rangers, 270 PointsRef's Notes: This team did an exceptional job of completing all their missions, which eventually won it for them. They were weak on the all-day objective (CIA 14) but still managed to pull that together toward the end. They also recieved lower scores in Sportsmanship, but high marks in communication and tactical movement. 2nd Place: Izmazlovskaya Grunts, 207.5 PointsRef's Notes: What a job during the first half of the game. Your team defended CIA 14 very well. You lost points for being caught with loose ammo. You also had many players whose guns went down in the last 2 hours of play and ended up having to leave early. But I give you all the props in the world because 3 of your players were roaming the field with no gun looking for knife kills half the day. 3rd Place: Ukrainian Rebels, 170 PointsRef's Notes: You did a great job of completing missions all day. I was very happy with the performance of many younger, inexperienced players on your team. But you had some very heroic rushes from experienced players as well. Moped did a nice job as CO. Your downfall was the same as the Grunts, many player's guns went down and had to leave in the last 2 hours. But afterward many of your players were still rushing harder than anyone, there was just not enough of you to make that final push... Kind of like real Rebels. Gorem, thanks for the compliments, especially on the objectives. We did put a lot of thought into it, glad ya noticed.. And Sparrow, you prove that good things can come out of Ypsi.. Contrary to popular opinion.. ;D You guys did a great job of calling your hits and being great sports out there. And good to see you and your crew again! When did I see ya last? Nine Hammers? Gunny, sorry about your luck. We do a game on the East Side just for you and you can't even show up and watch..

Solid game, although I think the decision to have three teams may not have been the greatest. The dominance of the ACU team seemed to be largely a result of their having many experienced players armed with high-end AEGs, while the rebels suffered from inexperienced players with lower-quality equipment. I am fairly certain that at least 25% of the rebel team was armed with pump action shotguns or sniper rifles. Obviously, this sort of thing happens at nearly every game (see here: miairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=eventplanningmain&action=display&thread=36815 ) The poor green team seemed to suffer the most as they were consistently sandwiched between the rebels and the Rangers. The leadership of the Rebel team was, sad to say, pretty lacking. Not only was this due to the general inexperience of the players and lack of radios, but also a result of a poor leadership style from our commander. Standing in the dead-zone / house and yelling "move up!" and "push forward" without being able to see the realities of the field or the actual conditions on the ground was not useful. I do, however, appreciate the fact that Mopedman (?) stepped up and took on a difficult job. On the up-side, this event was a great learning experience and (at least on the rebel side) many new players got to have their first day on an airsoft field. I was extremely pleased that the game jumped off on time. This may have been the first time I have ever been to an event that started on time. Not only were all the teams at the field by Noon, but all of the teams were deployed and ready to start. Not having a radio may have caused me to miss out on a lot of the "scenario" and specifics behind the objectives, but this event didn't impress me as being very "mil-sim." I'm not really sure why this event was structured to have Rangers, Rebels and Grunts or how the event would have differed at all if the teams had been Pirates, Ninjas and Clowns. The objectives seemed to be your typical "capture the _______." The event staff seemed to have taken a lot of effort to write a back-story (President Palin? Really...?, I digress) but this story-line did not seem to matter. Why not skip the story-line, have a green team and and a tan team and spend the time saved coming up with new and original objectives. At Palea De Manteca, for example, each team had to construct (using tools, wood, screws, etc) specific elements that were linked to whichever team they belonged to. For example, the "Cartel" built a drug-lab complete with scales, while the Marines built their "drop-zone." These were very cool elements that were fun to work on and added a bit more dimensionality to the game. Overall, I was pretty satisfied despite some issues. Tino and the staff (especially the refs) did a great job and I saw very few instances of non-hit calling and those that I did see seemed to be a result of layers, gear, etc interfering with feeling the impact of ammo.

Let me dissect this one Gimpalong (please don't take offense), First off thank you for coming out. Three teams is difficult to work but we will come to master it. 90% of A.C.U. was hand picked yes, but I believe the problem that led to the demise of the other teams was the massive amount of breakage and battery death. The Grunts were never sandwiched between the other two teams at all. Perhaps surrounded if the Rebels or the Rangers attacked the base. The Rebels were all the way on the other side of the field and the Rangers were (while close) not on the other side from the Rebels. As far as leadership goes for the Rebels I can say that I have seen Mopedman in action as C.O. before and he did outstanding. Like you stated communication and the experienced players that were Rebels not stepping up to leadership roles are to blame rather than future of this sport. You are welcome for the prompt start to the day! However as I do my best to live an honest life the event did start eight minutes after noon. As far as the event not being very "mil-sim" to you, I am sorry you felt this way. I will tell you that a great portion of your reason for feeling this is due to your lack of radio communication. There were multiple objectives that involved more than capture the "_____." The story line was ran to a tee. You obviously read the story line (refer to Palin comment) but once again the lack of radio communication deferred you from actually realizing that (my opinion). "Pirates, Ninjas and Clowns."...kind of rude but this is after all a public forum so you have the right to express your feelings/emotions however you would like. As far as Palea De Manteca goes that was good stuff! I will be the first to admit it, however I am also not a piggy backer so I would not go that route. Thanks Gimpalong for the compliments and constructive critisim. Keep in mind that Airsoft of Kalamazoo/Michigan is only in it's second year. There is plenty that we will learn and earn! Hope to see you in April...

If the Rebel team was armed with inferior weaponry, and had inexperienced players, well... That's about as close to reality as you can get. Real rebel leadership would have been lacking as well. We had several reports of Rebels just doing "their own thing"and not following the CO instructions, too. Again.. Probably similar to reality. Despite these things, the Rebel team put up a good fight, completed nearly all the objectives, and I was totally impressed with the newer, younger players who stuck it out to the end. As in real life, and true to the storyline, the Rangers were smaller, better organized, better equipped, and better trained than anyone on the field. They could have made mistakes and lost, but they earned a win with a nearly flawless game. Our Grunt team also had their moment of glory. The first two hours of the game they were engaged in a heated firefight around CIA 14, with constant pressure from all sides. Colt and Co. did a great job. My advice to all players is this: If you want to feel like you are part of the storyline, and if you want your event to be more "milsim", don't show up without a radio. It's absolutely essential to maximize your experience at the game. You'll have more fun! Edit: We did have one Pirate, Jack Sparrow.. If MBK would have shown up, we would have had a ninja... As far as clowns go, well.. Anyone want to change their callsign to Bozo?

Had a great time yesterday, considering it was my first legitimate event. Thanks Tino and the others for putting on a great event that seemed well-ran and stayed within the set times. Recommending everyone show up @ 10 was a great idea.
Also a HUGE thanks to mopedman for loaning me his shotgun when my gearbox locked up, which would've effectively ended my day. I really, really appreciate it.
It was quite disappointing that a great deal of our team (Rebels) left around the 15:30 mark. The lack of communications seemed to lead to our demise. I'd say that after the few hours, all but a handfull of people stopped using their radios.
The field, on the other hand, was great. There were both some great shooting lanes, and some great cover. It did get noticeably colder midway, but really wasn't an issue. At least the rain held off. I would say the only drawback to the field was the ice around the house. I witnessed a lot of people fall, myself included. A few people seemed to get injured from it, but overall it was something to laugh about when you happened to go down. Can't wait to play there again.
Did anyone happen to take photos there?

After 2 hours into the event the only squad I could get on the radio was squad 4. At the at the start of the game. I set up the squads so each squad had at least two radios yet no one used them or responded to our radio talk. Also our objectives kinda gout jacked up due to the fact that we took that CIA stuff that we were not meant to take. Also we were told to take the flags, then we got in trouble for taking them. All and all the day went well. Also a HUGE thanks to mopedman for loaning me his shotgun when my gearbox locked up, which would've effectively ended my day. I really, really appreciate it. No problem, any time.

Just to add to the chatter about the rebels: I was consistently impressed with the group that was armed with shotguns and led by the guy with the FAMAS. Despite having a major firepower disadvantage I saw this group repeatedly make well coordinated attacks. Good work!
