Finally finished! I am sooo happy with the way that it turned out. The ebony stain looks really good and goes really well with the all black AK. I don't know if I want to varnish it to give it extra pop but at the same time I don't want it to be excessive or flashy. It kinda looks weathered already and I like that, I mean thats how AK's are supposed to be right? Unless they are gold plated...
As I play with it in some games I will definitely sand and refine areas that are not comfortable, but like the entire project, everything is trial and error with this and you can see that in a few places.
Like I said before pictures really don't do this gun justice. It looks soo nice in person. It is pretty curvy especially along the top and thumb hole, it just blends in like rolls on a fat girl wearing black. The grip is VERY relaxed and might be awkward at first but for holding it for about a half hour its actually really comfortably and easy on your hands and muscles. Holding this gun is kinda like cradling a baby and the trigger pull is very easy.
The camera kind of washes out the wood so that sucks. Some will say the wood is a little blocky and it is. There is only so much sanding I can do before my hands are like WTF dude. Hope you all enjoy it because I sure enjoyed making it. Its truly one of a kind. Now some pictures!
Without the silencer
I haven't seen any stocks that you can buy online that would fit a motor in the grip still so I figured I would try to make one on my own.
First of all I have ZERO woodworking experience and hardly any tools. I figured the stock would have to be two halves in order to fit the motor and stock attachment point without any problems. I used a 2"x8" to start off with and planed it down to around 7/8" thick. With the two halves it will be 1 3/4" wide which may be kinda big but I would rather it be wider so its sturdier, especially around the grip where the wood gets pretty thin. So far this is what I have got done in about a days work. Only tools besides the planer that I used were a Dremel, handsaw, knife, screwdriver and good old sandpaper. This would be sooo much easier with a band saw and slot cutter!
This is the first half that is basically done, just needs to be sanded more and when the other half is finished, formed to my hand more. I think I am going to stain the stock black because I really like the look of an all black AK but i'm not sure yet.
Please give me some suggestion on how it looks or things to make it better. I plan to have it attach from the stock mount in the back and the bottom of the motor cage. Also thinking about carving out a space for a battery.

I wanted to make my AK47 look like a SLR 95(I think thats what they are called) with a thumb hole stock similar to this gun.
