Dude...you guys are forgetting the fact that the park opened up an hour late...I have nothing else to say. (According to the 1st page post opening time) I think they adjusted their hours after the game was originally posted. But I'm just getting technical about it... Personally, I thought the lunch break was quick. From the time I got back to my car, put my stuff in it, verified that we were actually going to lunch instead of being lazy, going to Taco Bell and eating, was about 45 minutes. Maybe the people that walked back sooner thought it was longer. Who knows...I have nothing else to say.

Haha yeah there was a good 15 minutes of standing around talking after that castle game before lunch. The time change was reflected in that post...and i arrived around 10:15 and it wasn't until 11 that stuff got rolling.

Nah, the park changed their hours to 10 rather than 9. Remember the first day they failed to tell us and we sat around for an hour all pissed-like?

So this time it was more of a shock to my system to actually wait...I have nothing else to say. No biggie though. I still had fun talking and playing. ;D

A few people i was parked by didn't know lunch started until like 20 minutes into the break. I think that is why lunch lasted so long. A car of guys didn't leave for like 30 minutes after the lunch break started. I didn't have problem with the time we had for the break though.

Thats exactly right. ;D Next time, during the briefing we need to say that after this game is over lunch begins. So if you would like to take a longer lunch break walk back earlier. Thats a good idea.

I am pretty sure the park opened up later than 10am, more like 10:30?

My throat still hurts from all of the yelling I did on saturday, and I was horse all day yesterday. I can't do much more to inform people of what's going on when they don't listen. If you didn't hear me call out lunch both directly after the last island game and again in the parking lot, it's because you weren't paying attention to me shouting "lunch break" at the top of my lungs. Sorry? Like I said, people weren't listening on saturday, and it was far worse than I've ever seen it before at these games. If you want to know what's going on, shut up and show up for the briefings. I'm not going to wait for you to mingle at your car for 10 minutes before I start the show again, because that pisses everybody else off. If the people next to you are talking, tell them to shut up.
The park opens at 10, and we've known that for the last couple of games (last game, Brian showed up a half hour early for no particular reason, so we got in early). I said in the game thread, show up at 9:30 and startgearing up while we wait for the gates to open so we can start at 10:30. Again, very few people did that, so we couldn't start on time. You can't complain about a late start when you show up late or sit around bullshitting instead of loading up when you get to the game. For the people who were there and ready, I'm sorry that you had to wait, but there's not much I can do when 75% of the players won't get geared up on time.
And like ARC said, for those of you who don't want to go to lunch, you can start your own games. I don't do anything special here. To be honest, most of the time I'm just winging it. Get people together, find a field that the paintballers aren't playing on, and play force on force or something. It's really not that hard to set up 45 minutes worth of game play. For me, it doesn't matter if I eat breakfast in the morning or not, I need a lunch break before 4pm. I also always get people asking me if we can do lunch soon because they're hungry. We're going to take a lunch. Again, if you don't want to, set up a game.
I honestly can't muster up much sympathy for 15 guys sitting around doing nothing when they have guns in their hands and there's an open field less than 20 yards from their cars. You don't even have to play with everybody. Take your four friends and play against each other on the speedball fields or something. Other people will join in if they want.

I'm LOVING this shot of me, thanks Sarge! ;D I had a great time at Saturday's event, for it only being my second time. I really have to learn how to find better places to take cover, since I can't see who's shooting me but they can always see me. I also have to try to find a set of goggles that will allow me to wear my glasses with them, because at mid-long range I can't tell if I'm shooting enemies or friendlies. BTW, I was the guy wearing 5.11 MARPAT, which some people thought was ugly as hell but a few others liked.

Better do as John Lu does, and get a megaphone Knief!

knief, you did a great job briefing there is only so much you can cover when everyone is talking. I think the best way people found out about what you had to say other than the briefing was a walk around in the parking lot. Maybe next time we can have a couple volunteers to pass the info with a walk around only because it was such a big group. That way you don't have to put up with all the people that don't listen a second time and save your throat.

Yea I agree with leatherneck on the info idea. A lot of people were constantly talking so I was constantly walking closer to hear you over them. Usually though the word would spread to those not listening by those who were. Megaphone would be great but its not needed unless you have one or can get one for free I would say. Honestly, I had a blast and think it was ran perfectly. Im looking forward to another event Hellfish runs.

Knief definitely does a good job running the events and if you didn't hear him explain everything the first and second time then that is your own fault for not paying attention.
Thanks for all the suggestions though on how to improve things. We will definitely keep these things in mind and we'll be trying to apply these things as our team continues to host events.

That's a fair suggestion kurt19d. I do feel that sometimes the lunch breaks get too long. The thing to note though is none of the Hellfish have to be there for a game to get going. If there are enough people during lunch that stay and want to play then by all means start one. All it really takes is for one guy to be loud and stand up on a table and get one going and typically the rest follows. If we have another game there this year I'll stay during lunch and help some people get a game or two going. I normally do stay through lunch, with the hopes of getting the stragglers into the idea of more games, but it only worked once out of the 3 rec games I've attended this year. This time, not so many people stayed behind, and those that did sent someone to go get food to eat at the park. Kind of a bummer for me, as we usually have a team breakfast just before we arrive.

Would it be possible to do the briefing whilst in the little grassy area behind that metal storage container where the paintball cash register is?
People may be a little more focused since they will be away from their cars and and noisy disctractions.
Not to mention that large generator that guy always starts up..I have nothing else to say
