(now it is just a matter of time until someone tells me that that's less than collage level information) The aluminum bodies of real-steel M4s and M16s are quite resistant to cold. Not so for the zinc-based "pot metal" bodies of Classic Army AEGs. Those bodies are die cast from powder mixtures at low temperatures because it's cheaper that way. When mixed in the liquid phase with other, higher-temperature alloying materials like aluminum and copper, zinc forms zinc oxide. The zinc oxide contaminants give pot metal gun bodies a large amount of porosity and brittleness (which also coincidentally gives those kinds of metal bodies their slightly greyish tinge when unpainted). So the combination of several different metals, a waste product, and trapped air all combine to expand and contract at different rates. Do enough rapid temperature changes with a pot-metal gun and it'll surely fail. This really only applies to zinc-alloy die cast gun bodies, not real steel, and not TOP SAWs, either. It's college, by the way. haha. i was kinda right. i was just saying that the cold DOES cause problems, but an upgraded gun is more likely to have problems. like a frozen bb catch. and like canuck said, inner barrels sometimes freeze too.

Okay, 3 days before the game. Everything looks good. Remember to buy the bio BB's. Just to let you guys know; I personally will not be there. Flapjack (David), Narcolepsy, and Jason will be running this. I would love to come but I have pneumonia and this weather is quite unforgiving. Good luck to all of you. I'll see most of you at OP: Market Garden, I think I'll be fully recovered by then.
p.s. the roster is on the first page, and I regularly update it.

So what are you saying? You won't play because it's too cold outside? If you don't want to play because of the cold, just say so. Your detailed attempted jusitifable excuse just says your a wimp There's nothing wrong with saying it's too damn cold outside. And i don't blame you since there is no where to warm up at inbetween games. Heck I'd be happy with a propane heater and some make shift tarp walls to shield from the wind. Anyhow, who's still going to this???

I'm already packed, loaded and got my batteries charged for tomorrow. I'll be there alone, though. My uncle isn't going to make it.

For my first real experience, it was better then some people had.
As I have nothing to compare it to, I won't critique it. Met some really cool people (Crazy, Jump, Major, Merkava, among others). Hopefully you fools'll be seeing more of me, and my super-fantastic-cheap-as-hell L96.

crazyman, why the hell were you using a cqb m4 on a big outdoor field like that anyway?
then again, there was that shotgun with a 20 ft range too. that thing was sweet. didnt think you could actually use a real shotgun in airsoft.

Some people's idea of "sweet" is a matter of opinion. Personally, I would NEVER allow anything that CAN (READ: HAS THE POSSIBILITY TO) fire real ammunition on an airsoft field. Regardless of its loadout, all it would take is ONE real steel round to kill someone. Try to stick a real-steel round into an airsoft weapon. It doesn't fit, for GOOD reason. I, for one, will not take part in a Mil-sim where any weapons capable of firing LIVE ammunition are being fired.
