Ballista, me and dice have been trading e-mails to figure out the problem and fix it ASAP. He says that isn't the case; apparently his parents believe that his playing airsoft will turn him into the next bin Laden. If that isn't an affront to this sport, I don't know what else is. If they believe that thier own son will turn out that way, what do want to bet they think worse of us? Do what I did and send an e-mail discouraging this view to his parents, but be sure to run it by dice to do the proper editing to help his cause. Be sure to make it between you and them though, it has a greater psychological effect if they believe you are doing this for yourself and not that you are trying to get dice off his "sentence". Hopefully they won't pull a Julius Caesar on us (if you've read the play you know what I'm talking about). Support our brother-in-arms people, go to his cause (for some reason I've always wanted to say that!

I want to try to convince them that airsoft is a sport and it is played by nice mature people with other intrests other then shooting each other. It would be nice to just know a little bit about you guys such as where you work or go to school and what other hobbies besides airsoft you have.

Oh, if you can use more material, here it goes. I go to Dearborn High School and have a 2.0 GPA, though I could do better if I tried. I watch about 2 hours of TV a week and when most normal 16 year olds are watching TV, I read. Once I read all of Rainbow Six on a 3 hour flight. I also like to write, but that's only something I do as a bit of a hobby on the side. I also like building computers, and when I go to college I hope to get a Computer Science degree. That's all I can think of for now, talk to ya later.

Erm, Alex, did you make a...typo?

What kind of typo would that be? I'm a Sophmore, I have two more years to get my grade to an acceptable level. Really all I need is a 2.75 to get into Lawrence Tech, which is the best local place to get a CS degree.

Well, sorry 'bout that, Alex. I thought you had mistyped your GPA, but hey whatever goes. Good luck with college, dude.

2.75 is a lot different then just a 2 but Alex you really should try to pick your grades up. If you are a sophomore you might not have 2 years to boost your grade. Colleges will probably only look at your junior year grades and about half of your senior year.

It might be harder then you think. You could be real smart but if your stuck with a teacher that makes it impossible to pass theres not really anything you can do.

Yeah, Alex, a 3.5 could be pretty hard to get. Junior year is the hardest year of High school, everybody says that. I'm struggling to keep up my 3.8. That's about a b- away from a 3.5. If you're not trying now, how could you think that you're going to apply yourself 100% later. Not trying will be your work ethic through out school and probably your life. If not, good for you, but that's not the norm. If a person won't try their sophomore year, they ussually won't try their junior year. And because their average acceptence rate is 2.75, they'll want someone that has a constant 2.75, not someone who applies themself once to get a gpa that high. If you're not learning this year or the year before, you won't have the knowlege to do well mext year, or after that. I want to warn you that you will probably not be going to that school. If they do accept you, then once again, good for you. Just keep your options open, you might have to look into transfering from a community college.

I feel for ya kid.......
I am Ex US Army Special Forces, have a PHD, and also have kids, and I play airsoft, yet I am not irresponsible, or violent.
My wife is a Doctor has more letters in the back of her name than I have ever seen, and she plays airsoft.....
Your parents need to lighten up and realize that there are idiots in everything, wether it be paintball, airsoft, or needle point.
What they need to do is let you have your releases and understand that yes airsoft is a violent sport or game, however it is full of normal, everyday, responsible guys and gals that do it for fun.

Actually Minky, teachers can and will find a way to fail you if they don't like you. My entire science class was told strait up that he could gradually torpedo our grades if he felt like it, that was last year. This year, I fell asleep in a really boring Myth/Epic Lit lesson and my teacher stopped me on my way to my normal english class and said if I ever fell asleep again he'd fail me.
jdi, it's not that I don't want to try or am too lazy to try, it's that I don't have to work at my grade. I do better at something when I feel that I am challenged by my work. My current GPA is with my PE grades, which were both C-. It's a commonly known fact that most colleges drop your PE grade a refigure your GPA without it before they either accept or decline you entry into the school. It's a mechanism against kids who get 4.0s because they took 5 gym classes in a single yeat and aced them all, but it works both ways.
Janus, I knew you were in the military, dut didn't know you were special forces. I hope you aren't like my step-dad when they get older and have them experience some rather interesting pressure points. Then again, it's come in handy a couple of time.
