I finally got it back from repairs and all was not well. Turns out the stock had cracked in half in shipping, but lets not dwell on the past, here are pics of the gun in mid-repair. I will be sure to update once I've got it cosmetically in it's prime. www.pbase.com/acm14/m14It's running smoothly at 380 FPS with .20s With a 9.6v battery, it runs 1000+ RPM so I'm downgrading to an 8.4 to conserve BBs. Weighs in at 10.1 lbs without battery or bb's in it. Internals: Prometheus POM Piston Head Prometheus 7mm Bushings with Bearings PDI 150% Spring Guarder Reinforced Tappet Systema Reinforced Airseal Nozzle 30v Auto Relay ;D External: Real Steel Regular and Slotted Handguards Crappy Resin Stock AC M14 Scope Mount BSA Red Dot Only 2 plastic pieces, the stock and handguard. I'm curious as to what you guys think about the Red dot, personally I like it better without the red dot or mount, please state your opinion [glow=red,2,300]EDIT: I present the SOCOM 16[/glow] www.pbase.com/socom16/inboxWhile I have yet to choose a good flashhider for it, you folks are looking at the first ever airsoft SOCOM 16. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'd personally go with an Aimpoint replica or a low power (2.5-3x) scope if you're going to have any sort of optics at all. Sucks that you're having so many problems with it.

Sucks that you're having so many problems with it. Yeah, having it break everytime it shipped was getting old but it was nothing a little epoxy couldn't fix. Also take into consideration that when I bought this gun, it was $420.00, it's not going for $580.00 on AC.And besides, for the tinkering type like me, fixing guns is half the fun of airsoft. But hearing that thing shoot after 9 months of shipping, adjusting, and praying was worth it. Mmmm. EDIT: I threw on my brothers big ass Tasco scope for a sample of what a scope might look like compared to a red dot, or any optics at all. While the scope may be a bit big, I like it a lot more than the red dot. There is a pic of the gun with scope added to the link.

Sweet. I'm sure we'll see plenty of M14 mods when the Marui one comes out, but I'm keeping mine as is. Though a SOPMOD would be pretty sweet. (the one in the back)

That's a SOCOM 16, 16.25 inch M14 variant, marketed as being good for CQB. 7.62 at point blank seems like it'd be good at CQB to me too.

I'm curious as to what you guys think about the Red dot, personally I like it better without the red dot or mount, please state your opinion I think that you should take the red dot and the scopemount off of it. It already looks sweet enough. It doesn't quite look normal to me, but that's just my opinion. EDIT: (stupid spelling errors.....)

The Red Dot is cooler than the other scope IMO. That's the way to do it

Glad to hear ya got it working finally. That's got to be a bit of a relief. Since you're asking opinions, my first choice would be the aimpoint replica, second would be the tasco, and third would iron sights. That cheap red dot is a no go though.
