I have yet to see someone wearing a UN blue helmet on the field, but I would advise against it.

Somebody needs to host a game where the evil American pro-gun rebels are being hunted down after the passage of a U.N. resolution that bans small arms ownership worldwide.
That would give you a good realistic scenario to portray the U.N. Maybe we could even get C. Martin to lead them.

Savage I'll have you know, i now am a proud gun ower. Soon to own 2 guns, and more then likely a grouping collection. Not every liberal hippy is against guns, i would know, cause i sure am a liberal hippy, wearing birkenstocks almost every day of the year.
But back on topic. I know the UN has blue helmets. But i thought that the only real "fighting force" of the UN was peace keepers, and they are supplies by member countries and use their own gear. And the UN reinburses the countries they barrow the troops for, except for the USA, cause we sort of didn't pay our dues for a few years there. And anyways i thought that the UN peace Keepers mainly wore grey, and i don't really recall a blue helmets. And calling them pussies is a little over generalized, as a fair number of American enlisted men are those same "pussies" your talking about.

For those of you who have played hitman 2 (the rest of you should be ashamed), remember that mission where you have to get the 50 cal from your contact and assassinate the middle-eastern leader? He was sorrounded by a convoy of UN guys in jeeps (almost positive their helmets were blue). As soon as you fire a shot, you better start runnin' or they'll whip you like the family pig. Unless this mission in the game is completely innaccurate to the abilities of the UN, I think it has potential for a descent scenario.

Poor bastards. They might as well put a big bullseye on their helmets. C. Martin, your Birks don't count unless they're made out of hemp and came with a complimentary corn husk hacky sack like mine did.

I think it has potential for a descent scenario. Except you weren't allowed to shoot the UN guys, which wouldn't be that fun. We could tweak it to some sort of VIP scenario though. Though, when playing that mission, I really wanted one of their M4's, so I ran around until I put a UN guy in between myself and one of the local bad guys. Bad guy shoots UN man dead, Jacko shoot bad guy, gets himself a shiny new M4 and still completes the mission!

Thats to funny knief. But Kneif do you still wear your when there is a foot of snow on the ground out side? Cause i do, i just also happen to wear some really warm socks.
I love how this post goes in an out of being on topic. But one thought i just had, isn't the whole point of UN peace keepers to be noticed? To show that they are there and are keeping the peice? If they blended in, they wouldn't be an active deturent. And sense the UN can't roll a tank into a town square, then they need that little extra something to stand out a bit.

That's the easiest way to go about getting the m4. There is also a glitch where you can strangle a UN guy (via fiber wire) without failing Although the UN soldiers were exempt from your fire, using them for an escort-oriented scenario does have potential (and an excuse to wear a blue helmet )

Off Topic: If I am not mistaken, those are barrets (Sp?), not helmets. though pic is not so clear. On Topic: Anyways, I think it would be good for scenarios. Like, take for example, do UN soliders (or whatever, "Peace Keepers" and dress them up in Blue BDU unifroms, Tact. Vests, and that silly Blue Helmet and have them attacking a certain thing to complete their objective(s) (To be named at scenario, if made).

Now I'm not a leading expert on the subject, but I'm pretty sure UN peace keepers wear the "home" countries standard issue uniform for that type of "zone". Now i could be wrong, but i don't think so. All UN soldiers are barrowed, and their use is reimbursed. They also bring their own gear, ammo and such. The UN pays on average 1200 dollars per country, per soldier per month. The soldiers month salary is still on the providing country to provide for them and their familly. But anyways my point in this. I simply think they wear the helmet, not a matching uniform. And they use what ever the soldier supplies to dress, with the exeption of the helmet.
Can anyone back this up? I remember either reading it, or seeing it on the history channel.

Well it would be less easy to confuse an all blue UN soldier to an all or mostly camo soldier. See why? That's why i said that, plus we'd match the helmet ;D.
