In the movie AVP they used green laser sights (laser sights with a green light) that you could see the whole beam. I have tried searching, but found nothing and i didn't find anything on the boards, so any help or links would be appreciated. Do they even sell these?
Thanks in advance- Andrew

Dont know where to get green lasers but most/all lasers are infrared so are only visable with nvg or if they refract off something like mist or smoke thats how you can see the lasers in the movie... yahoo ,green lasers... Remember lasers will blind you/others!

Green light lasers are for sale. I don't know of any tactical green lasers, but I can't imagine there aren't some available. The green light lasers I've seen are laser pointers. www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/5a47/The reason you can see the whole beam in the movie is because they've got a fog machine or something going so that there is particulate matter in the air. The only way to see the beam is if some of the light is reflected into your eye. The air needs to have droplets or particles in it for that to happen. Mite <edit> curse you WarmongeR, you beat me to the beam explanation </edit>

Green lasers tend to be really, really expensive if you're thinking of picking one up. I remember looking at individual laser modules (The actual laser emitting part of a laser pointer/sight) and finding green ones that cost over $200 per unit.

In real life, being able to see the whole beam is the last thing you'd want. Any idiot could follow the beam back to you.

Ya well i just thought it would be really cool, getting tired of the regular red laser sights. Also i was talking about green laser sights, not just green lasers. I want to be able to attach it to my M4A1 ;D. But it seems i could buy ANOTHER M4 for the price of some of these green lasers.

Laser sights for airsoft are just dumb. Any sight used for airsoft has to support easy "holdover" sighting. You figure your last shot was aimed at the guy's head and went short, so you aim six inches above his head and try your luck. With a laser, you can't aim six inches above his head unless there's a handy wall or tree right there for the laser dot to reflect off of. If there's smoke or fog on the field, the laser will give your position away. Save the money and buy an Aimpoint.

[a href="http://www.laylax.com/webcatalog/index.php?mode=det&cnt=&brand_id=4&sel=&product_cd=laser_l77&p_arrSel[category1]=&p_arrSel[category2]="]http://www.laylax.com/webcatalog/index.php?mode=det&cnt=&brand_id=4&sel=&product_cd=laser_l77&p_arrSel[category1]=&p_arrSel[category2]=[/a] If you are dead set on the laser though, i was looking around laylax and came around the above link. If you want to translate it just use good old babel fish. It looks like that laser has green stream. In the bottom photo the laser is green, instead of red. So i assume its a green laser. However, i am not certain and it does not state for certain. I would look around the interent and see if you can't find it at any stores. I have searched the usal suspects and came up with nothing. Even though it is new, i would think it would be allready in stock. Since, most of the brand new prometheus parts, such as thier cylinder is in stock, at most places allready. if i come across anything i'll post. This laser only cost around $130(only- laughing my ass off). Any way much better then dropping $390. Plus its laylax, can't beat that. ;D - see what i mean by green light. So i'm assuming it could be possibly a green laser. However, in all truth i think you would be better off with say a holographic eotech or bushnell sigh rather then a laser. If you want to spend $300 on something you might as well spend it on something you'll put to use, my opinion. ;D

From the Think Geek site. Also, sorry for the size, but here is a picture of the laser in action. It is visible in air.

sigh...
Slanky -
The guy who seems to have the laser beam going into or coming out of his mouth is most likely exhaling smoke from a cigarette.
You cannot see a laser beam unless there are particles in the air to reflect/deflect some of the beam light to your eye.
