I agree with Zorak. Unless you're in close ranges, a laser mounted on your weapon will be pretty useless for targeting purposes. The useful purpose for a laser would be to point out target areas for team mates to concentrate fire upon (for example: cover or concealment being occupied by enemy targets).

I've had decent luck by just telling people to watch where I shoot and then firing a long burst.

You can see the laser in AVP because...what happens when you shoot a gun? What about breath in Antartica? Smoke+visable breath=full laser beam. look at the pic you posted that is a powerfull laser unlike the ones in AVP you may be able to see that laser because of simple Hz of the damn think, but if you missed and hit someone in the eye you would cause major damage.

You can see the laser in AVP because... You forgot the most important reason of all: the director wanted that sort of look and had people make sure enough crap was always floating around the air to get the look.

i bet u could manage to jerry rig something on a m4 with that, but still a lil pricey for something with virtually no use at all.... but then again, its 60 some odd bucks for a red laser... and the green one is sooo much kooler, so i would think it would be a good thing to buy if u wanted to figure out a way to mount it... but as stated before, you could get something with more use for that price, u could nearly get a gas m203.... gawd... hehe

I hate to contridict you guys about the whole "not being able to see the laser in mid air in the absence of dust/mosture/whatever else is suspened in the air" but after poking around the internet for awhile i came apoun some stuff that says otherwise they claim this laser pointer beam (wich is green) can be seen in dark conditons www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/5a47/members.misty.com/don/laserdio.htm#diocssi myself am not sure (and dont feel like spending the necessary money to find out) in the mean time i think ill buy a red dot sight instead of a laser
