The author (Mark Bowden) interviewed the soldiers who participated in the conflict. On both sides. In the back of the book, he describes every single chapter with who exactly told him the specific events and states his opinions. One example of how he thought somebody was lying was when he interviewed some Somali fighter who said that a Blackhawk (helicopter) blew a baby right out of a woman's arms and into a shack (the baby was uninjured, miraculously). Bowden thought that was pure idiocy but then heard the exact same story from one of the Rangers. It's a really good read, Viking, I'm surprised you haven't read it. It's required reading in a lot of the military schools, now, because it's pretty much 100% truthful (according to the soldiers who participated).

I belive you're trying to say: "I eat, sleep, and breathe." Thinking is not a part of that phrase.

You see a sentence? All i see is a bunch of asterixes, pound signs, exclamation points and dollar signs.
Newman, I'm thinking about picking up that book. Is it also titled "Black Hawk Down", or does it have a different title? It sounds pretty good.

JDL: The title of the book is Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War by Mark Bowden
Viking: Mark Bowden is a well known journalist. Like Newman said the last 100 or so pages of the Hardcover edition (I say Hardcover because im not positive if the paperback has this) is nothing but sources. Bowden researched and interviewed as many participants (both sides) of the Battle Of Mogadishu as he could find. So the Delta "cowboy" attitude does have some factual basis.
