I can't figure what gun i should get: either the XM177E2, or the MP5 SD5. MP5 is 10$ cheaper on airsoft toys. All the other stuff i would need to get is: Battery-50$ extra mag-25$ shipping-about 12$ maybe total-with MP5 312$, with XM 322$ I think i can hav 320/330 by may (my birthday), and i would sell my m-11 probly. Should i get the cheaper one, or go for the XM? sickpointe im asking you mostly cuz u hav an XM. Also, i dont know what i have to get for charger and discharger, could someone tell me, please?

i'd go with an SD6 over an XM... plastic M4 wannabee's just don't do it for me...
as for a discharger...the TM one is fine...but anything that draws DC power will work...i use a few fans for mine...they work faster than a discharger...and do just as well... christmas lights will even work...I have nothing else to say
if you're getting anything more than a stock mini battery, get a better charger...i think Gonzo pointed one out in a battery help post in one of the other sections.

Grrr Bigmack... Just wait till you're stairing down the barrel of my Colt Commando. Mitch the SD5 would be a good choice but it's about equal to the XM. EG700, V3 mechbox, plastic barrel/silencer. Both good guns. The SD5 takes a large battery though so it's all in personall choice.

How about no guns until you're about 6 years older! Sweet lord, 12 years old?!? No offense, but I don't think airsoft and minors is a good idea in the first place, let alone airsoft and pre-teens....Yeah, yeah, you can bring up the maturity argument, but as far as I'm concerned, NO 12 year olds should own airsoft, and really, how "mature" can a 12 year old really be?

I'll also say to go with the MP5. The only problem is the 50 round mags. I'll say go with two spare mags, you can also fit a larger battery in the stock of the HK and the room is tighter in the Colt.

I have to agree with Minky here. I know I wouldn't let my son play airsoft at that age even at 15 he'd have to beg long and hard for me to allow it. Really makes me question how your parents are raising you. I can't say that I'd like a 12 year old on the field either, really has me thinking about age restrictions for MiA events.

Mitch has played with us before and he's quite mature for his age. He is TeMpeSt's brother and will be 13 in a month. But Hadoken I geuss it's your call.
EDIT- TeMpEsT has just told me that he doesnt think Mitch is ready to play at MiA events anyway. "In regard to how his parents raised him he goes to church almost every sunday, gets good grades, and for what I know doesnt get in any trouble." The words of TeMpEsT himself.

13 is still wayyy too young. think about it this way, if he gets hurt, his parents are going to be all over it. we don't need a lawsuit...and all of us can't spare any money as it is.

I know im young and i already knew i wouldnt play at MiA events, but i still play with my brother and his friends. And tempest and his friends all are only 15. I would play with my friends but they all like paintball. I told them how great airsoft is, but they didn't listen.
And about me getting hurt, i can take it. I've gotten shot by sickpointe's and tabomabi's aeg's and gbb, and they only hurt for like less then a minute. I dont think you should say that im not mature enough either. I think im more mature than blorfo (no offense).
And the age again, tempest and his friends all are only 15.

when i say 'getting hurt', i mean as in tripping and snapping a knee. or loosing your eyesight to a well (or in this case, badly aimed BB). I doubt that your mother...or any mother for that matter...would just suck that up and not press charges. it's the same old "my little baybee went out to play, and these bad men came over and beat him up" bit that people have been pulling in the legal system for years. When we... (and i mean those of us who are over 18) go out there to play, we accept these risks...we'll do everything that we can to avoid them, but we know that they are still present. 12/13 is still wayyy too young...and for that matter, 15 is still young.

/me cries. I just wanted to add that Chrono's posts have been the best written things I've ever seen a 12 year old write. They're actually readable! Anyhoo, about the age restrictions, I have to agree...sad as it is...is 14 a good starting age? Ammo would be right on the line, but could still play. You guys all say 15 is young, I just don't know if that's fair to say if you're only 3 or 4 years older (Bigmack, Minky's 19, etc.). I know that you are adults as per the legal standpoint and you have the ultimate authority over minors playing Airsoft...but really, would you not let a mature 14 or 15 year old play Airsoft if that's what they've been wanting to do for a long time and are responsible enough to handle the guns? Ach...my two cents, from a second class citizen...

Yep, it's not so much an issue of maturity as it is of age. Why should anyone so young have access to, or even own, higly realistic firearm replicas? I'm sure in a cop's eyes, there's a big diiference between a minor owning a paintball gun, and a minor owning an Airsoft gun. I gotta agree with Hado about the parents issue....why in the hell would your parents let you own a gun that could easily get you shot or in big trouble if the wrong people see it? Not to mention that exposing airsoft to your friends and other people that young might lead to some ugly situations.... *edit* Argh, newman posted while I was typing! Anyway, I think in certain cases such as you Newman, and ammo, players that are 14-16 can be ok, as long as they show responsible behavior in the way they play, and how they treat/use their guns outside the skirmish environment. It really has to go on a case by case basis; I don't think it's fair to say NO minors outright, but there has to be some sort of limits. I mean, I'd think we can all pretty much agree that 12 is too young; maybe have a cut off of 16 or something, and anything lower would be a special case. 16 is also nice because usually around that age people will be able to drive themselves to events, and not have to rely on parents or others to provide transportation. And BTW Newman, I'll be 20 on May 1st, so nyah

I'll be 16 on November 2nd, so...erm...nyah, nyah, and nyah some more! ;D ;D
That magic number of 16 actually sounds good since you can drive then, and maybe that "special case" could be for the dudes who had already played with MiA before the mandate. Sound good?
