One of my other passions are high-quality flashlights (and fine blades, and soccer, and Kayaks, and PC's, and jam-band music, and hiking waterfalls, and GPS, and radios, and, and, and......) and I thought I'd share some other cool stuff with you folks. Check the links below, not gonna tell ya' what they are, but let you investigate by yourself (and yes, I have a source for Traser Glowrings). I like those glowring things, aaaaand I need one! I dont know why, but if it glows for 10 years without any batteries I think I need one. Of course, I'd like a nice Surefire light attached to my SD6 too, but right now those glowrings fascinate me more. Need to take it apart!

Hado, did you notice the big red letters: "IMPORTANT NOTE - A difference in consumer regulations to the UK means this product is not for sale to our customers in the USA and Canada."

(and yes, I have a source for Traser Glowrings). I'm guessing that means he can get them in the US.... If so, I need some too ;D Could you let us know if you can indeed get them JackStraw, and what the cost would be? Oh, and Hado, I don't think you want to take them apart. They use Tritium, which is radioactive. So unless you want Hado Jr. to mutate, I'd leave them together

Thought I'd add one more address you might want to check out.... www.brightguy.comArc lights can be found less expensively there... Regular AAA's going for about $20. Why LED lights you may ask. Cuz it's where lighting is headed! No bulbs to burn out or die cuz the filament couldn't handle a bump, loooooong run times on less battery, numerous colors (some easier to see like turquioise, while others better for low light ops like red, some that are harder to see with night vision, and of course white - but a brighter color of white). These have become part of the "trip memento pkg" that my friends are receiving during our annual camping trip to Northern Canada in August. I'm having them engraved with the "mission name" (hehehe) and then placing them on a GloCord lanyard with a Taser Glowring. What's GloCord you say? It's a strong, highly reflective cord made by Sterling Rope that comes in numerous colors. The rest of the goodies are a Spyderco Ladybug mini-knife, a Colibri windproof/waterproof torch lighter, a Sun Triple Whistle (whistle, compass, thermometer) and (as a joke) a condom ;D.

I'm considering building a red LED flashlight with parts from radio shack, as I have a passive interest in astronomy. Those suckers will last days continuously on just one battery.
