So this will be my first organized Airsoft skirmish! Exciting. I can just show up on my own, no team or anything? Any tips or suggestions? :-)

Well, i don't know if Justin has contacted any of you big wigs, but I plan to join him this saturday and the events as such. I'm pretty excited, it's gonna be my first time airsofting and first time taking my P-90 into the field. See you all there!

In case you guys were wondering the map and stuff is on our events page hereJust ckick on the links for info... Sorry I didn't publish a story line, we have been mega busy lately, but expect a slew of fast paced entry style games (3-5 minute) on the "meth lab" we should be able to use the outside front entrance and the two overwatch sniper windows on the second floor. This place is a little smaller than the M40 Holland, but the way we run the scenarios don't have too much time wasted laying around waiting and you also don't just walk into a BB storm with 50 guys inside! It'll be fun, and as usuall I will have BB's and gas, and some accessories, if you want something special, then just let me know VIA EMAIL see ya there ;D

So..the game...was it fun? FLAG had an awesome skirmish today in a new field, but this isn't the place for discussing that. I'd just like to know what Mooseboy Newman missed and will look forward to going to.

I thought it was great, I didn’t have my AK with me so I used my TMP, springers, and Frostee’s Glock all day and had a blast. I like the field, inside it seemed like a two story warehouse kinda looking thing with a front yard with a bunch of barricades. My estimation may be extremely off and I am sure Mike can clarify this, but I think there were 50+ people there. I liked how mike had all the teams stay as teams, like SEMTEX, Heavy Recon, ACO, SOCOM etc all fought together, sometimes teaming two teams together. All the skirmishes where SWAT style scenarios, ranging from a meth lab gathering evidence and downloading files out of a computer to vip extractions. The scenarios where great and well thought out and Mike’s truck provided the perfect APC . There was also a raffle at the end that you are automatically entered in when participating in the event. BBs, hats, gloves, and GBBs where given away. There were countless of memorable engagements and just funny as hell things that went on, members of SEMTEX and Heavy Recon spent a good hour or so talking about the games over dinner. The only critiquing I would suggest for this scale of an event would be the following: 1) Chrono all guns during registration. Some of my team members and me felt that on a rare occasion we may have been hit by a shooter with a hot gun, though we admit we were usually shot in fleshy parts on our body not really protected by gear. ** admires multiple welts on legs** 2) Talk that paintball owner guy to lets us play all day, or at least like 5 hours or so. I myself will be attending more of these games when it warms up just a little more. Thanks Mike/Wolverine Tactical for a great day of airsoft goodness.

My only regret of that game was that I wish someone had gotten a shot of me straddling the barrel we used to 'trap' a door during the last game. ;D I especially liked the meth lab raid scenario. Yelling 'Police, drop your weapons!' at the top of my lungs was great after sneaking up almost on top of the druggies. It was fun, and I got to meet a lot of new folks (badkarma, superkaz2k and MDS) as well as hang out with some I already knew (SEMTEX, M.A.N.). Grand Rapids is a helluva drive though, and I would be all for paying $40 dollars if we could play for two sessions worth (12:30 to 7:30, maybe?). The place was a little... ehm, ghetto-fantastic, from the outside, but the inside was pretty cool. I second the chrony point, Viking, but you're probably right in estimating that it was just the fleshy parts and close shots that simply made it seem like a hot gun. And Snip won a P8 GBB! Better than the M9 EBB I won at OP: WT last year.

While I did have loads of fun I thought there were a few too many negative aspects which would dissuade me from attending another game at that facility. The first few scenarios of defending and raiding the meth lab were fun, but I thought most of the other scenarios were poorly thought out and hastily thrown together. The 3 minute time limit, while necessary to let all the teams have a chance to compete, made the scenarios unrealistic, in my opinion. The mess of the preceding paint ball games was somewhat aggravating also. I'm sure I'll be able to clean my gear thoroughly, but there were areas where the paint made conditions hazardous. I know I almost took a tumble on the metal stairs a couple of times (aging bones get brittle you know ). I did have lots of fun playing with the other teams that were there. Everyone seemed to participate with great enthusiasm and fairness. I especially liked meeting up with the MTASC guys again. The players were great, the place was... not so great.

aye...i pretty much agree with Frostee. the Meth lab scenario was good fun... and so was the mass elimination game at the very end. nothing like Glockzoring people. but the place was an absolute mess... paint coated everything...i slipped on the stairs...luckily, it was forward, and not backward...or i would have taken a tumble down the full set. but as others have pointed out, it was far too short for people like myself from the eastern side of Michigan. maybe doubling the length of the game for 30 bucks? i think M40 would make more cash off of around 50 airsofters than the 15 or so paintballers that were there before us. the paint on the walls made a mess of my gear, as many people noted to me at the event...took me a good hour to get it all cleaned up. on a 1-10 scale, i'm going to give it a 7. if we had played longer, it would be an 8.5. but 20 bucks for around 1.5 hours of play wasn't too much fun. on a side note, i was the Hostage during a hostage rescue game once. (it was Minky, myself and Frostee for this round) we all stood in the center room with armbands on...bright orange armbands... with our hands in the air in a surrender position. we (just Frostee, really. ) would scream like little girls and make comments like 'oooh help us please...we're unarmed...we're being tortured...etc etc' in accented english. So an assaulter comes in the garage... he's wearing black, PASGT helmet, and carrying an AUG Military. he crouches behind some boxes and takes aim at...US! the hostages. he proceeds to let off a 10 second burst of dry firing... all of the time Minky and i are yelling "we're hostages! Don't shoot!". the dumbass reloads...pops up...and sprays both myself and Minky with a good 30 rounds or so...i think i caught the brunt of that burst, though...meh. dumb dumb people. in retrospect, i should have taken the G26 in my pocket and plugged his ass with a full auto burst.

Actually Biggy, I think the guy that killed us as Hostages was using an MP5k with an M4 stock on it (rental from WTS?). Hado was the only guy there with a Mil AUG I think, and I know it wasn't him that executed us. I echo most of what's been said, in that I had a great time but don't think I'll be going back to that location, at least not any time soon. The SEMTEX/Heavy recon convoy was the first to arrive at M40, and we were all a little dismayed to see paintballers running around playing right before our game. Guess we can't blame the place since that is their main business, but it made for a messy day. Luckily the paint all washed out of my clothes, so no problems there. Overall it was a fun day, and I really appreciate Mike and Clayton's efforts at putting this event on. I only saw Mike play once all day, and that was with 2 springers in the last game! I can't recall seeing Clayton play at all, but he did run a mean stop watch.

For being my first event it was great! A lot of cool people and the scenarios beat the hell out of paintball. Though being grouped with 3 little kids with GBBs was a bit frustrating (especially being a newbie for the day), I felt I did well. Hats off to Mike for throwing a fun event. I agree it would be nice if the time was longer. Also, the paint sucked... but I'll put up with it. It was nice meeting you Jacko... and thank you to the guy that let me borrow his loader (I came pretty unprepared).

For my first actual airsoft event, I didn't really know what to expect. The drive was the worst part of it, for me though. Although I can not speak for my fellow teammates, a 6 hour drive for a 3 hour event, I would have to reconsider it next time.
To me, the place was alright. It had its good points and bad ones. The structure was decent, in my opinion. However most of the paint was really wet and the floor slippery. Those stairs need to be, (putting it delicately) more safe.
Aside from both my NEW TM MP5 RAS AEG and my NEW GBB Beretta now being able to be used during more than 75 % of the game, it was still cool to meet and greet and stuff.
Thanks again to JACKO!! for allowing me to borrow his AEG during the last game. Too big for my tastes. Personally, I consider myself a CQB assaulter.
The best part of the event is that it was not raining! And the raffle was a nice touch. And I totally agree that each scenerio could have been a little longer. Around seven to ten minutes would have been better. Most of the paintball games I have played lasted from ten to thirteen minutes.
All in All I give an *8*
