There more post you have the more stars the you have.. Once i think you reach a 100 post you get a 2nd star and soo on.. Global moderators will have the most cause they are in charge.

Well since you have a custom title from your first post here, you will not get any stars or at least no one will see them as you get them.
The stars on MIA or most boards for that matter indicate how many posts you've made, so if you hear someone "posting for rank" etc, they are trying to appear to have either been here longer or know more than certain people. Now this isn't a great way to tell how much a person knows as anyone from ASP could come in here with no rank and know more than most of the veteran members here, though it gives you a quick way to know how reliable the information being given is. If you notice someone reply to a message with quite a few posts(we do ban and reduce post counts if people try to post for rank) then usually they have been here long enough to gather some usefull information and also help the community. Though as I said post count does not directly indicate how much you know rather how much you post.
Oh and PMing an Admin or Mod will likely get you a custom title if your asking for stars;) As we don't just *give* them away.

I really don't like the way probaords does post counts. I don't think post counts really mean much of anything. There is so much stuff that people post that doesn't deserve to increase their post count.. Another forum I visit is Slashdot which has a much better system. When you post you get moderated depending on if your post is good or bad. If it is good then it gets modded up and if it is bad it gets modded down. I read on the proboards forum that they would be implementing this in to the next version of proboards.

I didn't read Luke's post, which probably says what I'm about to say in a much nicer way, but...
How do you get stars?
First you have to manage not to get banned in your first week of membership.
Second, you have to learn how to post intelligent questions and information.
Third, Apply the knowledge you learned in step 2.
Good luck, methinks you'll need it.
