New guy with some questions.... 1. Interested in playing with a team or just for fun. Problem is every forum I read the team consists of 15-17 year olds. Not a knock to the young guys but I feel a little out of my element being that I am 25! Any new guys my age in Oakland Co. Do the younger guys mind playing with old guys? 2. I'm looking into getting the Toyko Marui m4. Question is do I buy a stock one or should I buy one of the upgraded m4s that I saw on the UN Airsoft website ? 3. Do the dealers around here build guns for individuals? I don't have a ton of money but will pay for what I want. 4. I live in Warren and have been to extreme sports in Waterford two days ago. Pretty cool place. If anyone plans on making a trip to play will you advise me.

1. Younger guys don't seem to mind playing with the older guys. Geist Kompanie is a little divided into the 21 year old's and 30+ year olds, but then, we've got an 18 age limit.
2. Stock guns are always best for beginners. You may like a stock gun, so save your money for later when it comes upgrades.
3. There aren't many dealers on the east side of the state, but the guys on the west side might.
4. I would, but I haven't been there yet.

Welcome to MiA.
1. Check out the recruitment/players in my area section of the forums.
2. It's your first gun? Buy it stock.
3. There's really no close dealers to Warren (Save MSS at the Gibraltar trade center), but there's a coupe shops in grand haven, Wolverine Tactical Supply and 21st Century Airsoft, owned by 21CA, who posts here often. I'm sure he could help you if you were to PM him.
edit: Damn you, Jacko!

welcome to MIA FNG! think you feel out of place at 25? i'm a sporty 47 and the kids let me come and play on a regular basis and occasionally they let me shoot them! stick with a stock gun for a while and spend your money on some camo, boots and a vest/web gear and stuff. come to an op if ya can and that will answer some or most of your questions!

ROCK ON EASTSIDERS!
All I can say about retailers though is Duhnam's for springers and ammo, and Gibralter if you wanna pay too much money for something.

You're not from Detroit. You're not an East-sider.

Welcome to MIA, I don't have a whole lot to add other than don't worry to much about local walkin stores as there aren't many in Michigan. 21CA is a good store from what I've seen and I've not heard any complaints so it would be a good guess to try them out. Good luck in the sport and if you don't mind traveling a little there are quite a few games half ass near your area down there.

Hallelujah to Bigmack
Another good bit of information is that of the FAQ stickied atop the newbie discussion section, that is, if you've not already partaken in its eminence.

Bigmack, Grosse Pointe is the next city right excactly north of Detroit. It's like a 10 minute drive to Detroit, I used to play hockey there.

Yes. i know. i worked in Grose Pointe. I have family there.
But its not Detroit.
East siders are from Detroit's East Side.
You're a Grose Pointer. big difference.

Looks to be an ok deal, pricewise.
Only detrimental things are that it's on ebay, you arn't able to physically see it, and since it's the HG model it's not stock per se.
Other than that, if you do bid on it, good luck.
I should add...that if you were to buy it overseas it would be quite a bit cheaper, but if we were comparing it to purchasing it from stateside retailers, it'd probably be a tad cheaper.

Welcome FNG. I have to side with Rogue1 on this one as well. Buy stock, stay stock for a while, then determine if you need or want the upgrade. Also buying used is fine if it works out. Nothing worse than getting excited about the sport, buying used, having it not work, and loosing interest. Check the commerce section here on the MIA. a lot of guys here know what they are talking about and are always trading, buying or selling something. I would buy off of the commerce section long before buying ebay. Honesty is must on this board so trust em. Good Luck and welcome on board.

Thanks for all the feedback. ;D I've decided to go with the Tokyo Marui Colt M4A1 with RIS. I am going to do what you guys advised and but it stock with an extra magazine. I spoke with Mike from Wolverine Tactical and he was very helpful. I will probably do my business through them. I haven't heard or read any bad stories about them. Thanks again and hope to play airsoft with you guys soon.
