Hey, thanks for the informative site.I thought all airsofts were non-scale cheap plastic toys untell I watched Tactical to Practical and started researching airsofts last night. The post for newbies was very helpfull. I was in the market for a paintball gun but the added realism of replica airsofts sold me and now I've gotta get one! I'd like to get a tm m4a1 but with the barrel wobble complaints I am considering the armalite M-15 a4 tc/ca M4a1 that airsplat.com will be getting in stock on Jan. 4th. Does anyone know if tm is reinforcing the outer barrels on the M4 yet?Are the ca versions really inferior?

Hey, welcome to the boards!
I don't have much experience with the M4A1, but I can say the the SR-16 has very little barrel wobble as long as all the screws are tightened up. It seems the problem is more prevalent with the full-size M16's.
At this point, I would almost say that you could get either a TM or CA, but... Only just almost. Luke's had good experience with the new CA guns, but their track record is pretty dismal.

Welcome to MIA:)
I've seen more wobble on my brother's TM M4A1 then on my TM M16A2 but it's likely his has seen harder use. Anyways TM will likely not change their design, they often times don't make revisions like CA and other company's. Most of the time TM guns off the line are pretty much the best of the best anyhow, so really most complaints are minimal. By no means should barrel wobble be a deciding factor in your decision though. It's easily cured with a one peice outer barrel. Ok so we know about TM's and you will be happy with it. Now as far as CA it's a mixed bag, in the past they were shit for QC, now they are getting much much better. But there are still reports of problems, I own a CA M15A4 RIS, it's stock and I've never had a problem with it. I'm waiting to see what it's life span will be as I've just been using it. So far it's the best gun I own, bar my hopup issue which was my own fault. Anyways my theory on some of the people who have broken CA's is they are doing some things to them, checking the gearbox then mis-shimming it when they reassemble, things like that. Not intentional but some things like that, often times I hear of people complaining about CA's but most of the time they are not the people I want to hear from. Now I'm no mechbox guru by any means, but I am willing to admit that. Some people with CA troubles think they know everything and as a result screw up there gun then blaim it on CA. Several respected airsofters have spoken volumes for the new CA line in the last 6 months or so. To me they are a good gun, there are some things to concern yourself with but nothing terrible. Do some searching on some of the problems and see what you can find, personally if your near someone who can fix guns or are willing to learn, it would be worthwhile to get a CA. Now normally I always recommend a TM but since you seem like me, as you found out about airsoft and have done nothing but read into problems and have already found us etc, you should be compulsive enough and talented enough with the right guidence to fix most of your airsoft problems. Anyways it's choice decide what features are important to you.
Luke

I found a review on the armalite ca m-15 tac at Arnie's and it sounds like the aeg that I'm looking for. Thanks for the info guys, hope you both get some great toys this morning.
