Hey guys, im mainly into computer games but the other day i just got a brain fart and the word Airsoft came to mind. So i looked up "Airsoft" on altavista....long story short i have a Bull Pup Mac 10 Airsoft Spring SubMachine Gun coming in the mail. I just had 2 questions i needed some answers to.
1) do all airsoft guns, including AEG, and sniper rifles use paintballs (6mm)
2)I noticed from reading some posts, that most of you guys start with springers, go to gas, then AEG, and still love your springer the most. I understand that spring fires faster (as far as FPS) and further, at the expense of rapid fire of an AEG or gas. But are spring guns logical to use in a firefight during an airsoft firefight?
p.s. is that mac 10 i ordered a good gun?
I'm about as sharp as a baseball. That's why I used stupid text speak. in advance for feedback
Andy bageldough@juno.com (i live in North Carolina, if anyone plays there lemme know!)

No it is not advised that you put 6mm paintballs threw an airsoft gun.
I never had any springiers went to gas right away.
Sure you could use a springer in a match against people with aeg’s but you would most likely loose horribly.
To know if the spring gun you bought is any good we would have to know what kind it is manufacture.
Most springer do not have better fps or accuracy unless it is a spring sniper rifle. Look in the spring section of these forums to see more info on springers.
Also these are Michigan Airsoft forums most likely you will not find anyone from North Carolina here.

Welcome to the mia forums arcrist ,there are paintballs for airsoft guns but they do more harm then good and nobody uses them,we rely on the honor system if your hit you call it .Though peoples opinon on this may vary the most preferred weapon is an aeg .With a gas (or spring) pistol as a sidearm.Try searching for airsoft north carolina....good luck ...wear good googles!and remember that they look like real guns and other people dont now there bb gun so be careful where you play....

I'm pretty sure that you could assume that everybody uses 6mm plastic bb's (save for those who are using sniper rifles) for the most part. www.c-r-a-s-h.org/ is an organization of NC airsofters, which you may find better information about playing in your area.

I've never owned a springer. I have no intention of owning a springer (other than perhaps a sniper rifle or shotgun at some far future date). I hate springers (pistols, that is) for a variety of reasons.
I don't think people love their springers because they're springers, I think people love their springers because in many cases they were their first guns, the thing that got them into the sport. That kind of sentimentality is common in any hobby or facet of life (I still look back fondly on my old '77 Dodge van, not because it was a particularly stellar vehicle, but because it was my first vehicle).
But once you go to GBB and AEG land, the realism sinks its teeth into you and you never go back.
