I actually have two Aug Civilians. Just been lazy (very) to upgrade the other. You probably have made up your mind with everyone's thoughts, but here is my opinion...
-PROS-
The Civilian model is cheaper and your not stuck with a crappy scope.
I've had no problems on the field except with the buttplate
The gun feels real good aiming and looks good. Weight is a bit more than other aeg's I own, but I like it.
Awesome foregrip. I love the way it moves up so you can walk around comfortabily. It also, as you have seen in many pictures, moves down so you can get into a stance position.
I can switch my AUG mags a lot faster than my AK. That might be because I use my Aug so much though.
You don't really need to overload on a whole bunch of equipment (extra mags, repairkit, bb's, sidearm). Just a pen and paper for all the kills you get. I have nothing else to say, ok I'm joking on this.
-CONS-
The guns balance feels off. The foregrip corrects this, but you still don't truely have a perfect feel, which I think is crucial. (I've never had a gun give me this but a P90)
The fire selector (semi to full) annoys me. Its all in the trigger, which is touchy
Buttplate sucks. I wish TM the same thing they did with the P90's.
With its size, I feel it should have been able to use a Large battery, although you won't be able to have the awesome Version 3 gearbox (most reliable gearbox in my opinion).
My old AUG lost its buttplate and a screw near the foregrip. Make sure to watch them. Also, if you ever open up the gun, make sure you have and area very clear so you don't lose the small screws.
-TO BUY ITEMS-
-1 Hicap (maybe 2) Never had problems with them.
-1 inch hi rise mounts. Trust me, you'll be happy. ;D
-Cheap 3x9 40 scope. Not like you need to spend more than 30 on this.
-Sling. A good one too. Maybe a three point.
-Extra battery. 600 mah should last you a while (you easily go through 3 hicaps without draining), but you never know when problems occur. Unless upgrading, stick with the standard 600mah minis.
-That bb loader TM made lately. Its 12 bucks, but it is worth every penny if you are standard mag loading.
-1000 count bb container to pour them in your hicaps. I'm sick of lending mine out...I have nothing else to say.
-Airsoft Elite .20gram or .25 bbs. I hate any other brands.
-Some camo. Don't use your "I'M HEAR" outfit from paintball.
-Don't forget your goggles.
DO NOT BUY THIS GUN FROM AIRSOFT EXTREME. I feel this was a mistake I made. Maybe getting the 400 dollar package that includes battery, charger, discharger, extra bb's and a Hicap from them is a good idea. Now for a little background... I've owned a AUG for 7 months now (almost 3 months on my other AUG). It was my first aeg. Out of the three Aeg's I own(P90, Ak47. The Ak sucks!!), I will stick with my AUG. Not to diss my P90, but I would use it more if it didn't have so many damn magazine problems. The most kills I've got (yeah, all 2 of them
) is with my AUG. Oh, and this is a little off topic, but I wanted to save post room so... If you plan on going to college or saving money, keep what you get to a mininum (1 aeg, 1 pistol backup, very mininum number of gear items. You won't need more then you think you will). I would go as far as renting a friends instead of buying if you are tite on money. Oh and Tali, I found out I'm going blind. I guess I should start wearing my glasses now. Don't freak the next time I stop by.
