Purpose: Operation Amber Star Date: March 20 Location: Lowell, MI Time: 9:00am - whenever Registration Fee: $15 Lunch: Provided Player Capacity: 30 Notes: Please notify us by email if you would like to attend and to receive details of the operation
OPERATION AMBER STAR SCENARIO: An unusual shipment arrived at the UN base in Tuzla, Bosnia, early last December. Inside the hull of a C-17 cargo jet were several 8-foot-high metal containers--modern-day Trojan horses filled with a total of about 65 commandos from the premier British counterterrorism unit, SAS. Handlers whisked the human payload into a nearby hangar to avoid notice by Russian, Polish, and other little-trusted allied troops on the base. Once the SAS had been unpacked in secrecy and joined by others who drove in from Germany, they headed to safe houses in the surrounding countryside. Their mission: to apprehend five PIFWCs (pronounced PIF-wix), an acronym for "persons indicted for war crimes," in northern Bosnia.
CAMO: British DPM vs. European Flecktarn
LOADOUT: Make sure to wear everything you need for the entire day. Lunch will be in the late afternoon approximately 3pm.

so to do this... do we need to buy the specified camo...?
DPM would be cool... but i don't want to waste my money on fleck.

i prefer using the gear i paid for already... and using armbands. Camo would be ideal, but a pain in the ass (nobody on my team is going to buy new sets of camo)

Flecktarn is required for any non-delta team members attending this operation.

wouldn't it be more practical to choose between, Woodland, Tan, Black or OD?
Hell I'd take DPM if i had to... but fleck?

I'm assuming the reasoning all falls onto the fact that if you don't own the needed camo it's cheaper than normal US camo types. Personally I think it's a good idea, and I would agree totally.

wouldn't it be more practical to choose between, Woodland, Tan, Black or OD? more practical, maybe, more realistic, no if everyone was into airsoft games for their practicality why bother even buying camo, just use jeans and its not like anyone is being forced to attend

first of all... the british arn't fighting the germans anytime soon (realistic=no)
second of all... your scope of practicality is assuming
third... i'm not FORCED to attend, but when the only events being held in the state of michigan are ACO... i kind of am.
All I'm saying is that it is hard to get people (namely my own team in this example) to buy new things, but if push comes to shove the new camo should be something that is practical outside of the ACO events (making the sale of the idea easier). I will not be using fleck. anytime soon apart from the games they would be used in. However, if black, olive, desert, or any other US issued camo is used it would be easier to convince people to drop money into something they can use apart from ACO. Even DPM is cool, since it bares close resemblance to WC.
I'm just making a suggestion. Based on this event and all future ones, anybody who has already purchased standard WC, OD, or black is now forced to buy Fleck and DPM. At the very least only one of the two (DPM preferably) should be used so we don't have to buy multiple pairs of new camo.

first of all... the british arn't fighting the germans anytime soon (realistic=no) Are we debating whether the event is realistic, or the types of camo being used? (HINT: CAMO)

FYI- this operation is an acutal historical fact that took place. Bosnia, Russia and Poland are relatively close European countries and since the event involves Bosina, Poland, and Russia - Flecktarn is the cheapest and over most widely used European camo to re-enact this operation. Amber Star will be a new way that ACO is going to start organizing thier events. We welcome all honorable players of Airsoft. ACO events will be invitation-only, they are by no means exclusive. However, we realize that different people enjoy different styles of play. We would hate to waste your valuable time. If you have never played with us before or do not personally know a D-Delta member, we will have a club member contact you to discuss our operations. We want to make sure that you'll have an enjoyable and memorable experience. This person will become your primary contact and assist you both on and off the field in any way he can. If you do not know an ACO member, please contact us at www.acoclub.com and a sponsor will be assigned to you. When applying for the first time all personnel are requested to provide following information to the e-mail address above: Name Address Phone Number Emergency Contact / Phone number Age Occupation Years of Airsoft Experience Reason you wish to play with ACO After you have submitted this information, we will contact you by phone or e-mail to make sure you have everything you need to have a great day of Airsoft. Once we make contact, you will be provided with further information on the next OP you're signed up for. Players in good Standing : Active ACO members and operators need only submit the following: Name Operation Phone Number (cell phone number is best in case we have to modify the order of march at the last minute) Emergency Contact / Phone number Once your message has been processed, you will be provided with further detailed information on the OP. All this info will be provided on our website very soon.

Operation Amber Star will take place on approx. 45 acres in Lowell that we have not had the opportunity of playing until now. Great area - rolling hills, pines, hardwoods, and five sand morrells. Please remember if you are interested in participating, go to www.acoclub.com and send us an email. Thanks, RyanACO

my last post regarding this... why not Woodland vs. DPM!? 50% of all players would already be covered with the WC, and DPM resembles DPM enough so that it will work decently with WC gear (because i didn't pay hundreds of dollars on gear to look like a tool wearing 4 different camo styles) and finally... fleck plain sucks.
Don't real milsims use armbands? I'd see no problem if there were olive drab and black arm bands (hard to identify adding to the fog of war)... it would be much more economically sound.
