I recently purchased a Classic Army M24 on eBay. The guy said it had a 500 fps upgrade cylinder, and I have no reason to doubt that, since it's almost impossible to pull back. I'm 21 and rather athletic, but this gun is a major pain in the arse to cock. After cocking, the BB will roll out the end of the gun if it's tipped downward. Has anyone else had this problem? I don't think that is normal. Also, I'm considering getting the gas cylinder since it's so hard to cock, but wonder how accurate that'll be, where to buy gas magazines for it (or if you can just use M700 magazines), and if that'd fix my BB rolling out the barrel problem somehow. If anyone has any experience with the M24 I'd be happy to hear any suggestions. I've done some searching, but haven't found any answers. thanks.
P.S. the gun came with a Harris Bipod and Trekker 4-16x40 scope, both of which seem to be in better condition than the gun. If anyone is interested in seeing some pictures let me know, or if anyone has some pictures of the internals of their M24 I'd like to compare them to mine.

I have a M24 with the 500 fps upgrade. I had some problems with cocking mine but I find that if you do it while placing the rifle to your shoulder its a lot easier. In response to the bb rolling out of the barrel, I would have to say the most likely culprit is the hop-up needing to be adjusted. I also had a gas cylinder for my APS2 which I had nothing but problems with. That could be just my experiences though.
Any other questions don't be afraid to ask. Good luck.

I'll echo Striker93r at this point and say that BBs falling out of the barrel are often caused by hop-up malfunction. In my own experience, this can be caused by an over-lubricated hop-up. Try running a dry patch though the hop-up (with the hop dialled all the way out) to absorb any extra silicone.

I cleaned the hop up, but it didn't solve the BB falling out problem. I think that maybe my hop up is missing something. This is what it looks like in the mag well: I have seen some pictures of other M24 hop ups and they seemed to look the same, but it seems to me after people talking about adjusting them, that mine is missing a screw, probably in the hole in the middle.

I had a M24 years ago, and of course I had this problem. I think its because the stock barrel is like 6.09, or 6.10 and the bbs have no resistance. Try finding a tightbore to slap in there.
I had the same bolt too, be careful when you are cocking it. I snapped mine in half, and if I would have had my eye to the scope it would have left a nice gash and crater on my face. If you can find the upgraded handle, buy it.

Thanks jumprefusal, I was planning on getting a tightbore for this and my M-4 anyways, I guess that's a good reason to do it now.
Anyone know where I can find a manual for the M24?

Thanks, I had found the first one, and had been on the CA website, but didn't like it so I stopped looking. There's not much in the manual, but then again the gun is pretty simple.

I was looking on another forum and they said that an M16 length tightbore (509mm) will work since they couldn't find any specifically for the M24. I'm just wondering if this is true since the stock barrel in my M24 is 515mm. It's only 6mm difference, which is like 1/4", but I'm still wondering if it'll matter. Also, has anyone had any experience with the zero trigger for the M24?

Ehh...good luck. You can get replacement hop-ups, but for just the screw, thats tough. You can try removing the entire thing and going to lowes, they might have something that will fit.

The 509mm M16 barrel will work just fine, that's what I have in mine. As for the Zero trigger, check out my teams site, one of my teamates did a review on one; www.86th.org/?id=zerotrig As for the missing screw, I'd say check some hardware store, such as The Andersons, when I was there the other day, they had a few similar. Good luck finding one, though. Also, the stock barrel for an M24 is 515mm 6.08 (which is the same diameter as all CA guns) Jump, what spring did you have in your M24 when you ripped the bolt? I've heard one other person have this problem, too. Did you ever replace the bolt, or just get rid of it? If you replaced it, with what, the PDI? And how did the replacement bolt hold up?

I have no idea what it was, it was a drop in cylinder I got from Airsoft Extreme I think. It was just the cocking handle that broke, and I never got a replacement because they didn't make them at the time. I tried everything to fix it too, but it would never stay. The reenforced bolts you can buy I know will hold up, I want to say they are cast iron or steel.
