if i recall correctly, livonia got a drop-in upgrade set. this is a route for those that have all the spare cash at once. i went with incremental upgrades and put them all in myself. this is better for more limited budgets. or there is always the option of the gas bolt...
what would you like your gun to do exactly. there are many parts out there that tweak different aspects of performance
actually, i am pondering selling mine, upgraded and all, with a few extra parts on top of it to drop the fps down if the field you are at requires it. it is currently set to 530 with .2's and the drop-down kit brings it down to 400. if you're interested, pm me

I too, have just ordered a Type 96 and am looking for ideas on upgrading.
Livonia, where do you get most of your stuff from?
Also, I am at a loss as the the length of the inner-barrel. Is it 490? 500? I am toying with the idea of putting a longer inner, and affixing a "silencer" to give me a little longer barrel.

I am pretty sure its 495mm, but if you plan on getting anything more than that you will HAVE to get a King arms threading adapter, or cut out the original cap so the barrel can go through.
I order from Redwolf, I really like how fast they are and selection, but really don't like the shipping price. Something you gotta learn to live with.
PDI makes (in my opinion) the best rifle parts out there, and are generally a little less expensive than Laylax.
The PDI hopup will take AEG barrels, but you will need an AEG hopup to go with it. I would highly recommend purchasing this part.
About to drop MORE serious cash into my baby pretty soon. 530mm, or maybe a 590mm 6.01 anyone? hehe
And all i gotta say is "I love real steel Accuracy International parts".

Yeah. I was thinking about a 510 inner, a fluted outer, and a silencer. Mostly just for looks.
Mine isn't a Maurzen type 96.
I've ordered a Both Elephant. But the SECOND that the UTG 96's hit the market, I am getting one. I got to shoot one last night, and it was SEX on a STICK!

Wait...what? You own the BE and are telling us that the UTG shoots better? That is so far from making any sense at all......
Not taking a shot at you, but they are the same thing "in theory"
If you do get both people on ASR will hail you as a god for taking pictures and comparisons of both-proving if they are/are not the same thing.

The BE is based on the Version 1 trigger assembly. The UTG MK96 is a Version 2. I've seen the MK96. I haven't gotten my BE 96 yet (nitroairsoft, meh). When I DO get my BE, Naz has a MK96 and we will be doing side-by-side tests.

In the end... No rifle is going to be good unless you know how to use it.
Like ive said before, i see these kids pick up a 500$ rifle and get their asses whooped by a fully automatic rifle. If you you KNOW can hold off anywhere from 1-10 people with a bolt action, then sniping is possiably for you.
People on these forums have seen me play before woth my 96 as is, im aggressive. Ive used SAW's, and i perfer my rifle much better over them. Its just how i play.
To be an effective airsoft marksmen "Sniper", you need to be able to compensate very well, each one of your shots is not going to follow the exact line you hope it to, and i can promise you that. You also have to think that in airsoft you run around. It takes much skill to get a shot on someone whos running, trust me, this is also a major part of compensating.
There are way too many people on this forum who are buying rifles, and there are select few of them who actually make a name for themselves. Not to mention i see their gun for sale a few months after they buy and and make it all "sweet".
I Just hope that when someone buys a rifle, they know how to use it.

H-G-S, how is that BE? I really dont know much about this company but im thinking about them. Can anyone add to why their prices are so low? thanks.
I dont mean to hijack this thread but I just thought it better than starting a new one.
