Ok, i frikken hate computers. I typed about three pages and they're not here.... Ok here's my review of the CA M24 from a newbie's perspective....again.....I was interested in a sniper rifle, so after reading reviews and talking to Frostee and 21CA, Bill sent me a modified classic army m24 to review. Thanks BTW.... The rifle was modified with a 300% spring and modified cylinder, I don't have reliable access to a chronograph but he tells me it's running 500 fps with .20g, 445fps for .25g, 400fps for .43g bb's. I wanted the bull barrel 'cause it looks like the one we have at work. First thing i notice is, this thing's a beast, it's approx 54" long and weighs in at around 7lbs. Very solid feel. It has a black synthetic stock that is adjustable for comfort and scope eye relief. The stock also comes standard with mounting brackets for a bipod and sling. There are no iron sights, so on to ebay to buy a scope and rings. Ok, got a scope, a tasco 2.5x10x42mm mil-dot, mounting was easy the rifle has weaver rails built onto the barrel above the bolt. Gander Mt. was moving and having a sale, so i got a Harris ultralight bipod and a sling for the beast. Got everthing mounted.....wow.... www.hill10.com/gk/new/images/gallery/Mandor/p6270013.jpgwww.hill10.com/gk/new/images/gallery/Mandor/p6270015.jpgSorry, don't know how to get a link on here. Hope that works... Ok, step one load bb's - it comes with a 25 round mag that is inserted in the bottom of the stock just forward of the trigger assembly. The bolt will not lock forward on an empty magazine, nice feature, let's you know if you're empty. With the upgraded spring there is a noticeable effort to cock the rifle, but since i'm a fat guy, it's very managable. The trigger pull is something else though, very hard pull, probly about 12lbs. This can be adjusted somewhat by pulling the rifle apart, and adjusting a small brass screw located through the trigger in the trigger assembly. Gun teardown is easy with a t-15 socket bit fitting most of the screws. I was impressed by the simplicity of the rifle, very intuitive to teardown and put back together. *WARNING* the cocking handle does not need to come apart to remove the spring assembly. If at all possible don't pull it apart, it has three 2.5mm ball bearings and three tiny little springs they sit on, VERY easy to lose. If you must and if you do lose some of balls (like i did)((without firing a shot yet)) you can find replacements at an R/C store (2.4mm destribution bearings). The rifle comes with an adjustable hop up accessed by removing the magazine, pulling back the bolt, and turning a hex nut located in the breach area with a .05 allen wrench. I would recommend getting a wrench with at least a 6" length due to the cramped space of the magazine well. The hop up is finicky, and needs to be adjusted in small increments to get the bb's on a flat trajectory. Now for a little test, i fired .20g bb's through it at a cardboard box filled with packing peanuts backed target backed by 1/2" pressboard at approx 30 yds (approx 100') The bb's were all over the place but Bill warned me about that. I moved up to some .43g that he had sent along with the rifle, better groupings but i had to readjust the hopup. Since i hadn't bought a long allen wrench, i was taking the rifle barrel off the stock after every 3 shots to adjust the hop up, when i turned the hex nut out too far and jammed the loading nozzle. I tore the gun apart again before realizing what the problem was and promptly lost some of the 2.5mm bearings....again....(this was before I had the stunning revelation that the cocking handle doesn't hafta be removed to pull out the bolt)....back to the r/c shop. Put the gun back together and am now waiting on a new shipment of bb's to try and zero the rifle. Overall, I would rate the gun on realism as a 9. On manufacture, a 8. On ease of maintenance (if you know what you're doing and not losing parts for the hell of it) a 7. On accuracy, still working on it. I'm not sure if i like the adjustable hop up yet or not. On parts availability and addon's an 8. I liked the rifle enough to buy it and put another coupla bucks into it....

An update, My beast likes .3g maruzen bb's! Consistant hits on torso of man-sized target at 45 yds with ease. Hop up is still finiky, but so far i can live with it. On a score scale, ease of zeroing. Playing with the hop up 5, Once hopup is firing flat, it's just a matter of dialing in the scope to where the bb's are hitting.
Oh and with .3g bb's i'm at 470fps....
