Smith and wesson Military model .38
I happen to have a real one on the wall with stag grips:)
Not a clue as far as an airsoft version, but a police issue smith .38 would be close.

I don't believe that there is a S&W Model 10 M&P airsoft model, at least not yet. Here is a pic of my fathers Colt 38 Police Model for reference

The Colt Police Positive and the M1917 Colt revolver only look vaguely similar. The m1917 had a longer barrel, but smaller cylinder and frame, where the Police Positive had typically a shorter barrel and larger cylinder and frame. You will also have a difference with one's barrel being stamped "Colt Police Positive" whilst the M1917 not having such. The other inherent differences between the two, is obviously, the grips, the sight, the hammer, and the ejector. You will also have to realize that the Police Positive is a .38 while the M1917 is a .45 and one being designed/refined in the 30's, which accounts for most of the differences.
If you're looking for one for a WWII impression, it would really only work for posterity, or the sake of "just having one." The M1917 was produced in such small numbers, and wasn't issued "globally" to the soldiers, to justify carrying one to work for a early middle-late war impression, besides explaining it as "a fluke" or something of the sort. The only people that would've been issued the M1917 were more than likely to have had them prior to the war starting/just after the war starting, or a private purchase. I don't remember the actual number, but somewhere around 75,000-100,000 were made and subsequently issued.
