Just wondering what the 'lines' are when you're talking about gear. When I look in the gallery and see pics of people's loadouts, they always group stuff in 'lines'.

First line refers to the basic stuff such as boots, belts, caps ect. Second line is your plate carrier, chest rig, or LBV. Third line refers to a bag of somesort, like a loadout bag, rucksack, or backpack.

First line is normally used to refer to belt kits.

I know I'm not 100% right here, but I believe it goes something like this,
1st line- used to carry essential items to survival and minimal fighting gear. If everything else on your person is lost, your 1st line will help you survive. Usually a belt or waist pack.
2nd line- carries everything you would need to have in a fight. Basically your main kit or plate carrier .
3rd line- carries items to help you survive for more than 1 day. Non esental items also fit into this line. Almost always a backpack or ruck.
Obviously there are items that could go into all three, so that leaves some thing up to the operators preference.
