Hello MiA, I just picked up an A&K Masada and sadly the one of the Motor Plate screw holes, what screws it into the pistol grip, is stripped and I am in need of a way to fix it so I have come for suggestions. If I recall someone suggested using a set screw, but I was tired and don't remember the details. Thanks for the responses, really hoping I don't need to replace the lower. Also need to find a way to tighten the Selector switches as they seem to keep falling off.

That's happened to me before on an m4, best solution I've found is using a screw slightly bigger than the previous and making your own threads.

Go down to the hardwarw store, brig the old screw. Find one identical, and find one slightly bigger, one will work, and screws are only like 10 cents. MAKE SURE YOU GET SCREWS IN METRIC THREAD.

I would purchase a thread tap and try to re-thread your pistol grip. If that doesn't work, do what everyone else said and use a SLIGHTLY wider screw and possibly add some medium lock-tight. That'll work just fine for you. Another, albeit less recommended, option would be to drill out the threads, tap new larger threads, and a larger screw to match. This may not apply to all purposes and probably not for you in your pistol grip.

This may not apply to all purposes and probably not for you in your pistol grip. The pistol grip is most likely not thick enough to drill out and re-tap larger threads above the drill width. Most likely he'd end up tapping the grip and cracking it. You shouldn't have to use a tap to go bigger as the plastic is pretty chinsy on most grips and simply using a slightly wider screw with a tad bit of muscle should work just fine. I'd honestly look to see if there were any drop in threaded inserts or something (terminology for something like this eludes me) and if you could find a cylinder with threaded insides I would recommend going that route instead and drilling the screw holes and gluing the insert in place so you don't have to deal with this again.

I agree. I just put that out there because I don't know his situation. But still, re-threading the same size to fix the threads then adding some medium locktite would probably do it. If not, if you could find a drop in piece, that'd be great!

Just for future reference to everyone that may have this problem, how did you do it and how is it working for you?

Basically what Franchise and Hound suggested and used a slightly wider screw. Still trying to make the selectors stay on though.
