So I'm trying to be less of a turd on the boards/real life, and figure I would share some of my experience with the Tanaka AICS gas rifle.
The general goal for this guide is how to take down, modify, locate spare parts for, and generally not be a boot mouth breather with the finest gas powered fake gun to grace the internet/sometimes a field.
For starters, the Tanaka AICS (Tanaka gas rifles in general) are not for people who don't have some source of cash, as well as people who are afraid of using tools. G&G hasn't made exterior parts for these for a while now. More on that later.
Here is my rifle.
We will begin by taking the bolt out, by utilizing this small lever, located above the trigger. Simply push up and slide the bolt free.
Next up is to loose this bolt, located behind/in the trigger guard. It is a 3/16ths Allan wrench.
Next is this bolt, which is a 5/32ths Allan wrench.
Finally, there is a bolt located underneath the barrel. It should be a 5/32ths Allan as well.
Pull up on the receiver and the barrel. It will slide out. Store the stock in a safe place.
Mine is a bit different than yours. This is as far as I can go with helping someone with a stock rifle.
I have a Creation VSR-10 chamber conversion coupled with a Firefly bucking and a Dee's barrel from yester-year.
Crushed chambers are common for these rifles. Very lucky my stock one survived.
The G&G chamber has one less hole than the stock one, as well as the stock one having these annoying threads and some weirdo plug assembly used to hold the barrel to the receiver. You only need the stock doughnut/o-ring jobbie.
To use the action army barrel for the AAC-21 on your AICS, you need to move the mounting slug up about 3.5 inches. Drill and tap two holes, then cut the nipple off the lug.
Pretty self explanatory. I used a M5-0.80 x 10 bolt for the screw to hold it to the receiver.
The Action Army 29 round magazine is just as good as the Tanaka magazine.
This is a WIP. Any questions/comments?
