Well, I've just about had it with radios.
Here's the deal.
I've got 2 Microtalks, 2 Cobra cx210's, and 2 midland lx350's.
The micro talks and Cx210's are 1-pin headsets and the Midlands are a 2-pin system.
My 1 pin headset works perfectly in the Microtalk, but doesn't transmit in the Cx210's. (I can still hear).
In the midlands, my brand new headset can hear but not transmit. No matter what.
My current setup is to get some headphones and actually speak into the radio, due to my inability to use the PTT functions.
If anyone knows what's going on or can help me out, please do so.
Note* I really don't want to use the micro talks. They have a Roger beep that pisses me off.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Did you buy a Midland specific headset / ptt? The wiring of the pin on the PTT is backwards from Motorola I believe. I know Midland isn't compatible with any other brand stuff. My Midland brand headsets for my GXT1000 didn't last very long. There is a little switch on the PTT that switches it between the button and VOX that broke on mine.

I can't give you any technical advice on your current comms issues other than to just stop using what you have entirely. Because trust me I was there too using Motorola Talk Abouts and after going through a couple cheap Chinese 1 pin PTTs, at least two replica Bowmans and even a third replica PTT with replica Comtacs, I figured I wasted enough money and invested in both a Toy Soldier PRC-148 (Which I don't use anymore) to an ICOM with an external mic with an earpiece for listening. It's been the most comfortable and reliable comms set up I've used for airsoft and I really wish I had just went to that set up from the beginning.

No, I didn't buy a specific headset. I just figured 2 pins = 2 pins. I'll look into buying some of those Midland specific ones, although they're like 25$. Is there any reason my cx210's should be having this issue? Edit: After dealing with all of this, I am headed towards an icom setup for sure. The reliability and recieving/transmit strength are great too.

Puma, if you can find a good deal on an ICOM go for it, they are a solid radio. Baofeng is also a good choice, as they can be had for around $40, and have dual band capability.

Sometimes you get lucky shopping based solely on pin-out, but to have certain confidence that your mic and headset will work with your radio, you need to make sure the pinout, wiring of the pins, and impedances all line up. Otherwise you can end up with humming, or a mic that doesn't seem to pick up your voice properly, or all kinds of nonsense. It's best to find a headset you like with a list of specific radios they know are compatible, and then buy a radio off the list.

Sounds kinda like the problem I had, what was happening with mine were the radios weren't on the right sub channels one was on 10-0 one was on 10-1 so I'm not sure if that's the problem, otherwise I'm kinda out of ideas. Sorry mate.
