Not much content really gets posted in the Tales Of Valor section anymore does it?
Anyways. It was the day of the first OP I ever hosted, Operation Jackal. I was the commander of the green team, which I believe were the Militia forces, it has been two years so the details are a little fuzzy. I am a take charge kind of commander, I liked lead my team personally in charges against enemy held positions, not only does that ensure you see quite a bit of action yourself but lets the players on your side know you aren't there just to order them around.
There was a tower that sat atop a hill towards the back corner of the AO, It had switched sides multiple times with in the coarse of the last two hours but tan had finally locked it down. I took two squads with me to overwhelm the position but encountered heavy resistance. The tower was maybe only guarded by two or three tan at the time but they had a man in the tower with a L96 taking pop shots at us and man on the ground with a SAW. We had no choice but to break off and try to flank them. My squad broke off and went to come from behind, when we finally got into position, we saw that are second squad had abandoned the objective. I checked my ammo, two mags left. The situation with the rest of my squad was about the same, we weren't itching to get in a pissing match with a SAW. I talked to the Sqaud Leader to see what he thought was best, we were going to have to loop around the back of the field, make it past the Tan HQ and try to get back to green lines. Our radios went off. Something was happening, another squad pinned somewhere, maybe Tan was making a huge push, I don't know. I never found out, as a commander, as much as I hated to do it, I had to go radio silent. Tan didn't know we were behind there lines and I didn't want them to find out.
We continued down the back trails until we saw movement. A Tan squad of about 6 were walking toward us, just respawned. We all took cover and hid behind the treeline. As they approached I decided they were too close to let slip pass, we had to engage. Our entire squad opened fire, catching them completely off guard. The fight was over before it began, 6 taken out in about 20 seconds. We continued towards the Tan HQ. There were men there but they didn't open fire, they were awe struck by how we managed to slip past there lines. We moved on, capturing unguarded Tan control points as we went, racking up the points for our team.
We continued to what we thought we still green lines. We were wrong. Although, we had control of a little control point in the valley, they were under heavy assault, Tan had advanced quite a bit. There were about 15 tan pouring down on a control point guarded by 4 Green. Using the last of our ammo, We let loose into the Tan, taking out enough of them to force a retreat. We moved down to the control point and met up with my second in command, refilled, reloaded and went back out to the front lines.
Ain't no rest for the weary.
