Does anyone have any positive experiences for local places that can do repair or diagnostics on 2-way radios? My US MBITR mysteriously has stopped working on me, and I've reached the limits of my troubleshooting skills as I now think the fix is beyond me, or perhaps not possible all together. All I can seem to find while searching is local places that do car and stereo work, or places that repair old school antique stuff from the 40's and on up.

Give this place a call. www.bearcom.com/I doubt this is a normal brand of radio that they work on, but you might be able to sweet talk them into giving it a look over. I dealt with them to order some parts when I was getting 2 Motorola GP68's functional. They seemed nice enough, and talking to them, they seemed to know their stuff. They are located in Wixom. Also you could try RS Electronics. They may be less willing though, so you may need to really turn on the JD charm. Last, give Electronic Connection a try, they are located in Westland on Ford road. They may or may not work on radios. I know the old man seems like a tinkerer. Good luck! Have you tried looking for a schematic on it? That is how I was able to dissect the GP68's and trouble shoot them.

Thanks for the contact Tank. I'm gonna keep them for later as thankfully I found out the problem after getting the courage to moose my way into the battery pack on the MBITR. The garbage chinese solder chipped off somehow and was shorting the contacts.

That sums it up in the nutshell. That is how the Motorola GP68's were. I touched up a lot of the soldering in them, which cleared up some of the issues they were having.
