Hey I recently got into airsoft and bought an echo1 socom 16, currently the fps is right around 370 and with the hop up even slightly on the shots tend to curl a bit to the left I was hoping there would be somebody who could suggest some upgrade parts that will increase my fps to about 400 and take away this curve to the left. Also would like to attach a mock silencer but I don't know what I would have to do in order to make that work. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Derek.

Sounds like either your barrel or bucking is installed incorrectly. Could also be a defective/damaged bucking. Getting a new bucking and making sure everything is aligned should fix the issue. A new bucking isn't necessary though if yours isn't broke. Fix that and re chrono. Your FPS might just go up after you fix the curving issue. If it doesn't then you can drop in a tight bore. That will increase your velocity but more importantly if you get a quality barrel (I suggest Prometheus EG) you will see accuracy gains which are more important.
My Socom 16 is hitting a man size target almost every time at ~220 feet and it's shooting like 350 fps (w/.20g). Difference is I have an R Hop, a prome, and I'm using .30g BBs. R hop is a huge pain in the ass, but it seems to work well. It's to the point now where my shooting ability actually matters.

I've seen people on Airsoft Mechanics actually making their setups curve on purpose. Your barrel may just not be supporting itself well enough. I'd assume since it's an Echo1 that the QC on it isn't great, so it could simply be a defect in your barrel, so replacing it may help more than trying to teflon tape the end to stabilize it inside the outer barrel better. If you upgraded the tightbore to a good brand like Prometheus to something like a 6.03, you will usually see gains in fps around the 5-10 mark increment. Seeing how you'd probably be shooting 370 already, 20-25 ~fps shy of your target should be fine. FPS doesn't dictate accuracy. You can shoot 600 fps (like the WinGun? Revolvers) and not be able to hit someone 50ft. in front of you. I'd work on accuracy first before you go gearbox internal.

Thanks a lot guys I figured it was a barrel or bucking issue just in what I've been able to look up, I will definitely check out Prometheus barrels I just need to figure out exactly what size goes in gun. Thanks for the help.

Figured I'd throw It out there that the madbull barrels are not bad for the price. Obviously a heavy barrel like a prommy or KM is better but for the price they are a nice upgrade.

Either of you guys know what it takes to mount a mock suppressor/barrel extension should I buy a new barrel for my specific gun?

As far as I know, I believe Echo1 Soc16's don't have threads on their front sights. So I believe you can get a new front sight with threads on it, but I'm not 100% sure (I know G&P's and similar M14's have threads, but ones such as I think G&G and Echo1 don't).

Mayhem is correct. My TM has threads, but my friends G&G does not and I don't think E1s have them either. They do technically have threads but they are not standard 14mm threads.
I don't know of any after market assemblies to get threads.

I owned one briefly. For like a week. I hate sox-16's. I'd rather have a real m14, but that's mainly personal preference.
They don't have threads. (I checked). They do have a couple weird-ass ridges that you may be able to CNC something for though.
Also, I've heard of people welding a relatively wide suppressor on, but i don't recommend it.

You could probably shave your flash hider and make something like this fit.

Thanks for the help I'm not super excited about trying to modify the flash hider myself but I might try it, first thing is to fix the curve my hop up is giving me. I'll post something if I'm successful in either task.

Thanks for the help guys I took the gun apart noticed that the hop up unit with barrel attached was slightly skewed in its place but I took it down to nothing, cleaned the barrel and reassembled it And now no more curve with hop up on and no more mis firing in semi mode which was happening regularly as well now when I decide to upgrade barrels I know what to do. Thanks again guys. Derek.
