So I picked up a broken JG M4 recently, hoping to repair it. Apparently, the air nozzle had been shattered when the previous owner was working on it. So I ordered a new one and installed it. The gun shoots, but has very low FPS, and the BB drops after 20 ft. I checked compression, and everything seems fine. I found that after every shot, the air nozzle stays pulled back, instead of extending forward, like its out of alignment. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

The air nozzle staying back probably means you have a bit of overspin.
You clearly have a compression problem, so check compression at all points and figure out where the leak is. Once you figure that out, I can give you some specific solutions, but as of now there are too many possibilities to narrow it down.
Double check that your tappet return spring is is strong and intact and the tappet plate slides freely. Also, what brand of air nozzle did you install?

Also, you probably installed it correctly, but make sure you put the tappet plate in the groove, and not infront or behind it. But more than likely, it is over spin. Some lubrication on the air nozzle might also help with air seal. (?) I usually do. Not sure if it betters it or if it messes it up, but I haven't had issues yet.

How do you correct overspin? I'll check everything for compression. Also, its a Matrix air nozzle.

Overspin is not what is causing your problem, but it can be fixed if it bothers you or you are worried about it leaving your spring compressed. The best way IMO is to do it mechanically this means either a stronger spring (then short stroke if you want to bring the fps back down) or higher speed gears with a slower motor. You can also use an active braking mosfet.
Is the matrix nozzle an o ring one? Definitely make sure it seals with your cylinder head. I'd also check to make sure the bucking isn't torn.

Just push back on the air nozzle with your finger, does it spring back on its own? if not the spring is not attached to the tappet plate or you have something jamming your tappet plate.
